The mattress or something on the mattress made it get hot during the night ? memory foam, ? Waterproof mattress protector. Preference is for non memory foam or synthetic cover that generates heat. Sheets duvet cover etc were cotton so definitely a lower layer

Size, location and cleanliness of room and shower room. Excellent shower roomy and good water pressure. Location of hotel excellent to walk from to local facilities walls etc.

Disappointed that on Saturday morning they couldn’t provide a cooked breakfast as we do like to support the hotel we stay in, but there were lots of lovely cafes around.

Bedroom and bathroom was spacious and newly decorated, windows could do with replacing but didn’t effect the room, bed was very comfortable, staff were friendly and hotel was within walking distance from both Matlock and Matlock Bath

Everything was good.

The property was close to all amenities, parking is free but on a first come first serve basis. Check in starts from 2:30pm onwards. The staff are good and the checkin was quick. The hotel is very clean. The room we stayed in was a standard double room small but clean. Hotel is good if you’re having a short stay. There is tea and coffee making facilities available in the room along with kettle and some biscuits and chocolates.

Room wasn't made up during 3 nights we were there, and there didn't appear to be an option to request it. The restaurant wasn't always open though we did see the staff eating!

Location was great, near to restaurants, and the room was quite comfortable.

We had the honeymoon suite it was fab with the very large bath. We had an evening meal and this was good too.

Nice stay. Quiet hotel, comfy bed. Breakfast a bit disappointing due to lack of attention of staff. No one around when coffee machine malfunctioned twice, had to go find someone. If we stay there again I think we’d breakfast in Matlock.

Great budget hotel in between Matlock and Matlock Bath, friendly check in, clean comfortable rooms, and bathroom. Free parking, well worth the money. Would definitely stay again.

Very clean but a bit of a cramped twin room , up in the eaves of the roof . We stayed for 3 nights but our room wasn’t serviced at all , tea , coffee and toilet rolls were not replenished and the bins weren’t emptied. The food in the restaurant was poor , we didn’t eat breakfast in the hotel as it was expensive. The location is excellent , 5 minutes walk to either Matlock or Matlock Bath , plenty of good eateries in Matlock .

The rooms are so well appointed, really stylish and comfortable. There's a really feel to the place, and the staff were very welcoming and professional. A great location too, for local things but also as a base for exploring the Peak District.

There was nothing we didn’t like

Lovely staff and very friendly greeting. The property was really clean and the bed very comfortable. The shower was great and the room was perfect for us. I would highly recommend as nothing was too much trouble for them we ate in the restaurant at night and the food was very nice the bar area was also good. We would definitely go back.

Could only have our meal at 7.00 because the chef was only in then. Rushed for dessert as chef was finishing up. We should have formally booked for earlier evening meal - no flex in the system. Had breakfast in a cafe as breakfast expensive. Pleased we were given a room upgrade by the hotel so very good value for us - we had a very nice room for the price
