Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Small things: the inner toilet seat wouldn't stay up so needs tightening. The shower screens don't quite meet so potential for water escape.
Breakfast was very good. The room was clean, comfortable, warm and well equipped. The bed was comfortable. Laptop could be set up at the desk with good wifi. The shower was very good.

I like a dark room and it was quite light in there, from the light on the TV, and the timer on the radiator, just my preference though, the room was clean and bed comfortable.
The staff were friendly and professional the breakfast was delicious, the rooms were clean and comfortable.

If anything our room was a little too hot to sleep but opening a window soon fixed that. Would like the bar to have been open later but fully understand you dont keep it open with no customers . Not the best access through industrial type area but beautifully when arrived
Breakfast was perfect , orange juice, good choices of cereal, perfect cooked English breakfast, lunch menu again excellent with a great choice beautifully cooked. Lovely friendly helpful staff

Room was clean and comfy. Good sleep on a really good mattress. Staff were really friendly. Food was home cooked tasty and reasonably priced. Breakfast was enjoyable..Overall good value for money.

This place is a little gem,we have stayed her s few times whilst visiting family in the area, we have never managed to have an evening meal at the hotel till this time, the food is amazing just like home cooked food, tasty and wholesome, the breakfast was also amazing hot,tasty and plenty. The room was great and clean. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a stay or just for a meal.

Brilliant place to stay with friendly and welcoming staff. The food is incredible, home made, delicious. There were a group of us staying and we were able to use the reception area when the bar and restaurant closed which felt like a cosy living room. Beds were very comfortable too. I will be back.

TV signal a little poor and kept glitching, but not a bother

Slight quibble, small shower. Bar closing at 8:30pm or so was a bit odd, although they do state this on their site so...the plus is makes it peaceful

Bar closed far to early and breakfast started at 7.30 am to late if your going to work but they gave me a packed lunch which was fine
Everything was very good bit out of the way and the bar was closed before 8 pm not ideal

For me nothing really but it is a bit out of the way from everything and might be hard to get to or stay if you did not have a car
The room was really clean with a real comfortable bed. Food in the restaurant was traditional pub food but was homemade and tasted delicious. Staff were really helpful, attentive and friendly. Enjoyed my stay will be back.

The heating in the room was controlled by a remote control and no one was available to turn the heating up, the room was fairly cold. The outside temp being minus 3 and lower the room was set at 19 degrees.
The property was clean, tidy, the staff were friendly and pleasant. The breakfast was really good and filling. 10/10
