Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomSteep stairs-they were OK for us but if you are unsteady on your feet could be dangerous. Low doors and a tall husband led to a few frustrated (and painful) moments but that's just one of those things in older buildings. Beds not the comfiest.
Lovely little cottage in the market square. Parking often available just outside the property in the row in front of boots. Plenty of space in the property. Modern and very clean. All the cook ware and utencils you could want to make a self catering stay enjoyable.

United KingdomWe found the beds to be uncomfortable although we know this is personal preference. We stayed 7 nights so it was more of an issue than it would be for a short stay. We weren't given much information about how things worked regarding changing our bins/getting clean towels etc. and it was unclear about whether housekeeping was included although any queries were dealt with quickly. Although not an issue for us, the flat would be unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues as the stairs are very steep and the bathroom small and a bit difficult to move around in.
The location was fantastic. We overlooked the market Square and the town was well connected for bus travel or going places by car. Lots of places to eat or have coffee. Two grocery shops within 2 minutes walk. The flat was very clean and the kitchen well equipped. The decor was stylish and there were two sofas and a dining table so plenty of space to relax and eat. The staff were very friendly and quick to address queries. We had a fantastic meal in the restaurant at The George, the hotel that runs the innkeepers house, and the bar and outdoor area were great for evening drinks.

CanadaVery steep stairs with narrow treads but that is what you expect in a period property. Could be a problem for anyone with bad legs.
Wonderful accommodation with amazing views. Would recommend for long or short stays. Good for couples or families. Modern kitchen, comfy sitting and sleeping areas. Photos didn't do it proper justice. It was much better.

United KingdomThe landing sensor sensitive light would light up at night automatically when someone up for the toilet. Not ideal if you leave bedroom door open too. Bedroom door hinges could do with a drop of butter

United KingdomThe only things are v minor. We stayed in the Inkeepers House (apartment about the pub). The rooms were great, but like some reviews we read before we arrived (sinks above the toilets were a little tricky for the children to do teeth etc) ...not sure if a sink could be added in one of the rooms/landing space? (But probs v expensive for the benefit gained). Also the auto lights which came on when movement sensed were useful for the stairs etc (but a little bright when the kids moved slightly in the night - suddenly floodlit landing). But everything else was fab!
Lovely lovely staff. Every member of staff we met/spoke to were all really polite, friendly & helpful. Lovely area for a stay close to York. Perfect pub for a birthday meal & also had a v tasty Sunday Lunch too. Lovely food & service all the way!

United KingdomPoor lighting in living room - only an overhead light which was not good for reading, etc by in the evening. It needs some floor lights. Bathroom tiny with odd over toilet basin arrangement, which made the basin hard to access.

United KingdomThe washbasins being on top of the toilet cisterns. Difficult to reach over to clean teeth or wash face. No grab rail in bath. The mattresses on the beds were not good. Some of the springs had gone. Hard to get comfortable at night.
Excellent position. Enjoyed sitting at the table and watching the activity in the Square. Tastefully decorated and furnished. Lovely to have the 2 comfortable sofas and the large smart tv. Kitchen was excellently equipped. Being next to the hotel it was lovely to go next doorand enjoy two excellent meals!
