We stayed for two nights at the end of March to celebrate my partners birthday. Absolutely loved our stay; the hut is homely, clean and just perfect! The hot tub was also very nice and the two little resident goats are so cute and friendly. There was a little 'happy birthday' banner and bottle for us on arrival, which was such a lovely touch. We will definitely be staying again.

The whole property in amazing, it’s lovely and cozy and has just about everything you need for a couples retreat. The log burner is great at heating up the hut and is also quite nice to look at, and the log burning hot tub is great, especially when the weather is a little on the chilly side. The goats were an added bonus 😀

Check the ice cube trays as ours were filled with a yellowish liquid 🤮 only enough wood for one day, no oven and no option for a breakfast basket so if you don’t take food that can be microwaved you go hungry

    Comfy little hut nice facilities

The property was incredible. Super spacious, gorgeous views, insanely comfy bed and all the amenities you could want (including fudge and Prosecco!). Perfect location, close to gorgeous hikes. My boyfriend and I loved every second of our stay and would 100% recommend to anyone and would love to return. Cleone was the perfect host, replying instantly when we asked questions, and even heated the hot tub up for us. The goats were also super adorable and friendly. Thanks so much!

There is nothing bad about this property

We couldn’t recommend this accommodation more. Cleonie is a fantastic host, so helpful and friendly. The overall accommodation has everything you could want, including a decent size fridge, incredibly comfy bed, a little TV and WiFi as well as plenty of pots, plates etc to cook with. It is an amazing location, close to supermarkets and some of the most beautiful parts of the Lakes but is a real tranquil spot - enjoy the hot tub, once you get the hang of it (thanks to Cleonie for showing us to load it full of wood). The best part - the resident goats!!

Unfortunately we came at a time when the water was slightly brown due to sediment from the pipes. Cleone mentioned this can happen from time to time and is trying to get it sorted. For us this meant we couldn’t use the hot tub as the water was too discoloured. Cleone was very apologetic and did try to get it refilled with clear water and when this didn’t work, offered us a partial refund which we were grateful for. Overall we had a really lovely stay and I would definitely recommend this place - and hopefully the pipes can get sorted!

The property was lovely, cosy and clean and had everything we needed for our 2 night stay. Parking was available, and its a relatively short drive into the town or to local hike routes in Penrith. Our host Cleone was very accommodating and responsive throughout our trip and made us feel very welcome!

We had an unforgettable experience staying in this beautiful shepherd’s hut in the Lake District. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with the warmest hospitality, and the hosts went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The hut itself was absolutely perfect and incredibly cozy, and thoughtfully designed to maximize the space. The interior was charming, with rustic touches that added to the cozy atmosphere, and the bed was so comfortable, we slept like logs every night. The kitchenette was well-equipped with everything you'd need to cook up a meal, and we loved sitting outside in the evening, enjoying the view of the rolling mountains The location was ideal—secluded enough for a peaceful retreat but close enough to explore the surrounding area. There are several fantastic hiking routes nearby, including some of the Lake District’s most scenic spots. We particularly enjoyed the short walk to a nearby lake for a tranquil afternoon by the water. One of the highlights for us was waking up to the sound of birdsong and the fresh mountain air. If you're looking for a quiet, romantic getaway or simply a break from the hustle and bustle, this shepherd’s hut is an absolute gem. We can’t wait to return!

The pans I used for breakfast weren't 100% clean and the cushioned trays had jam or something on them, apart from that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Loved the wood fired hot tub and how peaceful the location was. How attentive the host was by leaving a bottle of prossecco and a birthday banner.

We didn’t manage to heat up the hot tub The lawn strip on the middle of the road is not good for low cars Maybe a clear sign post ( our satnav took us to the wrong farm)

It was nice and warm We self checked in late at night Playing loud music without disturbing anyone as the huts are a distance from each other

The rain. We didn't get the best of weather, which stopped us from getting the hot tub working. Too wet and windy. Better luck next time.
