Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomWe stayed for two nights at the end of March to celebrate my partners birthday. Absolutely loved our stay; the hut is homely, clean and just perfect! The hot tub was also very nice and the two little resident goats are so cute and friendly. There was a little 'happy birthday' banner and bottle for us on arrival, which was such a lovely touch. We will definitely be staying again.

United KingdomThe whole property in amazing, it’s lovely and cozy and has just about everything you need for a couples retreat. The log burner is great at heating up the hut and is also quite nice to look at, and the log burning hot tub is great, especially when the weather is a little on the chilly side. The goats were an added bonus 😀

United KingdomCheck the ice cube trays as ours were filled with a yellowish liquid 🤮 only enough wood for one day, no oven and no option for a breakfast basket so if you don’t take food that can be microwaved you go hungry

United KingdomThe property was incredible. Super spacious, gorgeous views, insanely comfy bed and all the amenities you could want (including fudge and Prosecco!). Perfect location, close to gorgeous hikes. My boyfriend and I loved every second of our stay and would 100% recommend to anyone and would love to return. Cleone was the perfect host, replying instantly when we asked questions, and even heated the hot tub up for us. The goats were also super adorable and friendly. Thanks so much!

United KingdomThere is nothing bad about this property
We couldn’t recommend this accommodation more. Cleonie is a fantastic host, so helpful and friendly. The overall accommodation has everything you could want, including a decent size fridge, incredibly comfy bed, a little TV and WiFi as well as plenty of pots, plates etc to cook with. It is an amazing location, close to supermarkets and some of the most beautiful parts of the Lakes but is a real tranquil spot - enjoy the hot tub, once you get the hang of it (thanks to Cleonie for showing us to load it full of wood). The best part - the resident goats!!

United KingdomUnfortunately we came at a time when the water was slightly brown due to sediment from the pipes. Cleone mentioned this can happen from time to time and is trying to get it sorted. For us this meant we couldn’t use the hot tub as the water was too discoloured. Cleone was very apologetic and did try to get it refilled with clear water and when this didn’t work, offered us a partial refund which we were grateful for. Overall we had a really lovely stay and I would definitely recommend this place - and hopefully the pipes can get sorted!
The property was lovely, cosy and clean and had everything we needed for our 2 night stay. Parking was available, and its a relatively short drive into the town or to local hike routes in Penrith. Our host Cleone was very accommodating and responsive throughout our trip and made us feel very welcome!

United KingdomWe had an unforgettable experience staying in this beautiful shepherd’s hut in the Lake District. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with the warmest hospitality, and the hosts went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The hut itself was absolutely perfect and incredibly cozy, and thoughtfully designed to maximize the space. The interior was charming, with rustic touches that added to the cozy atmosphere, and the bed was so comfortable, we slept like logs every night. The kitchenette was well-equipped with everything you'd need to cook up a meal, and we loved sitting outside in the evening, enjoying the view of the rolling mountains The location was ideal—secluded enough for a peaceful retreat but close enough to explore the surrounding area. There are several fantastic hiking routes nearby, including some of the Lake District’s most scenic spots. We particularly enjoyed the short walk to a nearby lake for a tranquil afternoon by the water. One of the highlights for us was waking up to the sound of birdsong and the fresh mountain air. If you're looking for a quiet, romantic getaway or simply a break from the hustle and bustle, this shepherd’s hut is an absolute gem. We can’t wait to return!

United KingdomThe pans I used for breakfast weren't 100% clean and the cushioned trays had jam or something on them, apart from that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

United KingdomWe didn’t manage to heat up the hot tub The lawn strip on the middle of the road is not good for low cars Maybe a clear sign post ( our satnav took us to the wrong farm)
It was nice and warm We self checked in late at night Playing loud music without disturbing anyone as the huts are a distance from each other
