Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomExpensive. Poor quality breakfast - not fresh. Clearly has the same carpets and curtains as 30 years ago - stained and worn. Rick hard mattresses. No central heating. WiFi only available in reception area.
The staff do try with what they have.

United KingdomThe shabbiness of the place, the incredibly uncomfortable beds, the general feeling that the place was unclean...
The location of the hotel is good, nice sea view from window. But, that's all its got going for it... In our room, no. 5, twin room, we found a rentokil insect trap under the bed, not a good start! The mattresses on both beds were ragged, they should've been destroyed long ago. Under one of the bed mattresses there was a wooden board between it and the bed base. The beds were extremely uncomfortable. The room was clean but incredibly shabby. For the price paid we expected better. We didn't stay for breakfast because reports of incoming storm had us worried about our journey home. We stayed one night but had we booked more we wouldn't have stayed anyway.

United KingdomThe cocktail bar furniture was very basic. The bedroom was small for the price - general poor condition of the en-suite facilities - old tin lined shower, nowhere to put soap etc in the shower cubicle. The wash basin was located by the bed and was in very poor condition.

United KingdomWeather was atrocious, but not the venues fault! Room decor was a little tired but it was clean and comfortable. Bar snacks were unadventurous. We had an OK burger but mostly ate out as we like lots of vegetables and fish. Parking was rather tight - area at front and back, but back was a bit tricky as our car is fairly long. Someone better at parking and reversing would have found it easier!
Room was fine, wonderful view out over the loch. Decor a little tired, but fine for the price we paid. Staff were friendly and happy to meet our dog. Told us there was an excellent dog-walk in a forest just behind the hotel, which made morning and evening comfort walks very easy. Breakfast was plentiful. Only bar snacks served in the evening but we knew this and mostly ate out.

United KingdomI am a massive fan of Fawlty Towers. This was the long awaited missing 13th episode and did not disappoint. Fantastic views and location to start from. Staff were very friendly but just about everything became an hourly game of trying to find the next fault for the entertainment value alone. It all started from being unable to find the main entrance (no signage). The rooms were straight out of a time machine, just missing Bill and Ted’s phone box. The bacolite radio on the wall turned out to be the room service machine. Was too scared to touch it in case it fell apart. The bed linen was clean, but adding a sheet to the broken mattress was akin to a table cloth on a bed of nails. One of the best worst nights I’ve ever had. Even made friends with a fellow resident who was eager to share her even funnier experiences.
Location was right on the harbour front, fantastic views of Kerrera.

United KingdomThe bed was not very comfortable, shook so much and the loose headboard banged each time against the wall, I worried for those next door. Aged facilities is understandable and maybe more expensive rooms have faster boiling more modern kettles. Like I indicated earlier, I'll still book this every time am in Oban if its available.
Most amazing staff. Chat like you're family while attending to your requests. That location is absolutely the best. Hooked on 10k steps a day? Join the march on the seaside promenade. Enjoy your drinks or breakfast watching the boats small to large come in to berth. Dinner and breakfast were good and not over priced. I highly recommend.

United KingdomThe intoxicated intruder who kicked his way through my room door at 3 am. After the intruder was subdued and had left, I tried to contact the reception by phone to alert them to the issue, I got an answer phone and almost 24hrs later I haven't had a reply to my messages. I then couldn't leave my room which would have left my family alone with an unsecured door. After a sleepless remainder of the rest of the night, I reported it to a member of staff who was dealing with breakfast as the reception was closed, she was apologetic but in fairness there's not much she could have done. Then I left and will definitely not return.
Nothing, hotel dated, rundown and no help from staff when required.

United KingdomVery tired in need of complete refurbishment. Toilet seat broken, TV no working, no shower gel or soap, hot tap faulty, shower room door off it’s rail, beds had springs poking through old mattresses flat pillowsDiscriminated against because of disability, broke UK law on two counts The tourist information office told us when we complained to them that they won’t recommend this hotel because of so many complaints
The positives; it was better than sleeping in a shop door way !. Towels were clean water hot, some staff were helpful (not all) sea view a budget hotel (if you are desperate)
