We found that the shower facilities were difficult for people over 80 ( over the bath) a walk in shower would be more suitable

No negative comments but we thought the food prices were quite expensive although the quality was very good. We had generous breakfasts and had light meals and snacks which were served in the lounge. 2 course dinner was about £60 which we didn't take

staff were attentive and helpful .Room was large and had a huge and very comfortable bed. everything was spotlessly clean. Location was quiet and in beautiful surroundings but within a few minutes of an excellent Park and Ride facility which only took 10 minutes to get into the centre of YORK

Drinks were expensive plus an additional service charge.

It felt like we were well looked after. All the staff were attentive but without being over bearing. Everything was spotlessly clean and well maintained. Food was lovely.

Grumpy lady members in the changing room and pool. They didn’t like that I was there with my 9 year old son. They weren’t aware that you could swim with a child between 10-11am.

Bit dated especially the SPA area. Noisy road and roadworks nearby.

Tiny portions of food at dinner with family were disappointing. My husband had a hypo during the night which is always unpleasant. He's diabetic and has to inject insulin before meals based on what he is expecting to eat. I was unable to get the shower warm enough for a comfortable one. Water took such a long time to warm up

We were upgraded on arrival to a suite. Now in our 60s we've never stayed in one before. It was so luxurious. Staff all friendly and helpful. I include the gardener here as most hotels don't have such a beautiful garden and I met her pruning roses

Pre dinner drinks and lunch were served in the drawing room, and while very grand, we found the lack of any background music made the room feel like being in a museum!

Location is very easy for visiting York. The food was excellent (we had breakfast, lunch, and dinner). Our room was in an external building up a steep flight of steps but large and very comfortable.

Rooms a little cool in winter due to the age of the property, understandable. But lovely real fires downstairs

Beautiful English historic country house, very tastefully curated and decorated. Very comfortable and beautiful open rooms to relax in. Staff were extremely helpful and attentive, excellent service. Great spa too with lovely pool and high quality treatments available.

An amazing stay here. The staff are wonderful always on hand with a genuine warm smile and greeting to help your stay be special. The breakfast offer was delicious which sets you up for the day. Rooms are immaculate with an expresso coffee machine. A few hundred metres away from the hotel is York race course where you can walk around and then drop into York City Centre, around a 50 mins walk. A first class stay, unreservedly recommended and will be staying again.
