Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomProbably could do with a hanging wardrobe, we stayed 2 nights as extended our trip to this area last minute, there was only a coat stand and small drawers.
Did not know what to expect as I haven't never stayed in a hostel before but it was a late deal and we could not get accommodation in the town. It surpassed every expectation! Lovely room with a comfy bed, very clean, showers and toilets. Kitchen area had fresh flowers in a vase which were beautiful. Host very accommodating and building very secure, he always appeared when we came in, so we felt he was vigilant and felt very safe. Tea and Coffee supplied in the kitchen and plenty of space to prepare food and relax if you need it. Location was so central and a bus stop right outside, we had a sea view which was a bonus. We usually would have en suite but the two toilets available were spotless as were the shower areas. Highly recommend this wee hostel in the old Library building!

United KingdomNothing!!!
What’s not to like. The accommodation was affordable, the whole place was clean, a beautiful historical building, a view of the sea to die for, great facilities e.g. shower was powerful, fantastic living room with unique artwork. Darius, the manager, joined us for a while in the living room and chatted. Very helpful and friendly guy! He welcomed us to the property and bid us goodbye when we left - so attentive and genuine. I would absolutely recommend and will return!

United KingdomOnly thing that would improve the accommodation is if the rooms were en suite rather than dedicated toilet / showers for each room
Sea View Room with a large double bed and bunk beds with a separate dedicated toilet and shower room (not en suite). Room was clean and tidy and the staff were excellent

United KingdomSadly the bus stop is immediately outside and runs from about 7am until half past midnight! Interestingly, the 7am bus massively turned it's engine noise down but the half past midnight doesnt and the buses seem to run every half an hour. Whilst the view from the window was gorgeous, being in the centre of everything brings late nighter's noise from the street.
Spacious room, with a small sink and lovely view from the windows. Nice heavy blackout curtains. Convenient shower and toilet, lovely kitchen area and lounge with a PIANO!

Czech Republiccannot think of anything really
Everything that you need for a short stay, comfy beds, WC and toilet for the room just at the next door which worked just fine, from the window of the room you can watch the tide going up and down, tea and coffee available from a clean and modern kitchen with a big table, a small bakery is just next door, you should also try the famous fish and chips from Anstruther Fish Restaurant - just about 2-3 min. walk.

United KingdomThe shower room lock wasn't very secure.
Beautiful historic building – such a treat to stay in an old library at a very affordable price. Big spacious room with a gorgeous view of the harbour. Very clean washing facilities. Location was perfect, on the main street in Anstruther. The bus stop was right outside with direct fast buses to Edinburgh and St Andrews. It's also a 20 min walk to Cellardyke Tidal Pool which is a must see if you are in the area.
