We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomRestaurant service was a little slow and the swimming pool changing rooms could do with some modernizing and work. Swimming pool had swimming lessons for outdoor users everyday but this wasn't really an issue and there was still enough space for hotel guests to use the pool. It did mean space in the changing room was a bit tight and the smell from the shared bathrooms was quite strong. Overall not a huge issue though.
Spacious room, well decorated and good amenities. We loved having the pool onsite too - there was also a steamroom that we didn't realize when we booked so was a nice surprise. Nice outdoor spaces. Good breakfast provided.

United KingdomSpoken to very rudely by a staff member called Gary on the front desk, twice. He did not match the friendliness of the rest of the staff and he put quite a grey cloud over our stay.
Most staff were very friendly. The room was a very good size with a brilliant surprise in there for children! Pet friendly. Lovely warm pool.

United KingdomWhen we checked in the man at the desk told us nothing, only that our room was on the first floor. No info on where to go, what time breakfast was or how to use the pool facilities. Room was a standard room- had to fix the shower head to use it and the main light switch wasn't working due to the lights being turned off in another part of the room
Lovely bar and restaurant. Breakfast has a big choice in the morning.

United KingdomOur shower would never turn off completely, there was insufficient hanging space and what there was, wasn't long enough for my dresses, no instructions for the radiator, and a false fire alarm on our last morning. Probably an okay place for one night, but not great for the 4 nights we were there for my mother's funeral.

United Kingdomreceptionist
Our experience at Mercure Hull Grange Park Hotel had a lot of positives, but unfortunately, the service from the receptionist fell short. Starting with the good: the hotel’s communication before our stay was excellent. I received multiple emails leading up to our visit, which made me feel welcomed and excited. The hotel itself is spacious, comfortable, and well-maintained. Our room was clean, and when we had an issue with the heating, the staff were incredibly responsive. After calling the operator, a kind lady from the staff arrived promptly to fix the problem. She was professional and quick, ensuring that everything was working well, which was a relief since my husband, who is recovering from a stroke, needed to stay warm while I attended a wedding. Her efficiency and care really stood out. Now, for the not-so-good part: our experience with the receptionist was disappointing. We arrived at 2 pm, knowing check-in was at 3 pm, but I thought I’d ask if the room was ready. The receptionist was not welcoming and flatly told me check-in was at 3 pm. I accepted this, but was frustrated when I saw another guest being checked in before 3 pm while I was told to wait. It left me feeling confused about the inconsistency. Additionally, when we were finally checked in, the receptionist failed to provide basic information like the time and location of breakfast. This lack of communication felt like poor service, especially for such a large and otherwise well-run hotel. In conclusion, while the hotel itself and the rest of the staff were fantastic, the experience with the receptionist unfortunately took away from what could have been a flawless stay. With some improvements to reception service, Mercure Hull Grange Park Hotel has the potential to be a top choice for travelers.

United KingdomThe restaurant chairs were worn and caught clothes. The hotel was in need of a paint job. The worse part for me was the lack of changing facilities with no privacy. The kettle didn’t work and nearly burnt me as the handle over heated and the soap and shampoo ran out. The late receptionist couldn’t find any extra pods for our coffee machine.
The restaurant and staff were very good. The selection of breakfast was good. I enjoyed having a pool to swim in and the steam room

United KingdomWe informed the Mercure on 2 separate occasions, of our arrival on Sat 24th of August, our Wedding Eve, that we would be having around 25 to 30 persons with us in the bar the evening of the 24th. With around 12 of the group staying over. However, despite early notice, and a reminder earlier in the day too, there was only one man tending the bar for the full duration of the stay in the bar from 6.30 til midnight. Unfortunately subsequent approaches to the desk, informing them that the one man manning the bar needed assistance. He was really struggling to keep up and offer the service one would expect. He explained that he had asked for assistance also, but none was provided. The barman worked himself to a standstill, but because he was so flustered he was making mistakes with charges, no 2 drinks orders ever cost the same, he was increasingly under pressure, and ultimately had an accident when he cut his hand on broken glasses he dropped and tried to recover. His hand was bleeding and he had to go and get treatment. During this period the bar had no service staff. The queue for drinks grew and when he came back, he was bandaged up but again having to work alone. Despite waiting long periods for drinks, we did have an enjoyable evening, however this was because of the company, and not the service. Despite the poor barman’s Amazing efforts it just wasn’t enough, until later on, when persons fed up of waiting for service decided to leave. It was a shame, and disappointing that this had to happen, as good prior notice had been given of our requirements and numbers, yet the hotel was not sufficiently organised to back up its promise of good service. The Service overall was poor and as a result disappointing for myself and all those guests who attended and those who stayed over. And I and my wife were embarrassed. We were married the next Day, the 25th at the Country Park, and it was superb. MGP must improve communication and organisation or reduce the promises.
Breakfast was really good.
