Location is amazing with great estuary views. Excellent quality and comfort. Central to all things Appledore with easy parking on the road or nearby car park. Great service from the team who promptly resolved an issue we raised on our arrival. Instow beach is not far and there’s a fabulous long circular walk to Westward Ho and back through the Northam Burrows.

The location was perfect, directly on quayside with view straight onto the estuary. A great variety of pubs, restaurants, cafes and a brilliant deli all within 200 yards. Lovely and warm, super clean, newly refurbished. Nice touches like fresh milk provided in fridge, coffee maker. Great bathroom/shower.

The only slght niggle was that the room was quite cold when we got there and took a bit of time to warm up. It was a really cold day. When it did it was toastie, so would have been good for the heating to be on before we arrived to warm it up ready for us.

A lovely cosy room with a great view of the river from the window. Excellent shower. Great there was a coffee machine and ironing board and iron. Comfy bed, clean and nicely decorated. We felt very at home there.

Room was attic room and a bit quirky but clean and comfortable. Good shower, and coffee maker in room.

The first night the heat cut out on me and it wasn’t until the next morning that I realized I had to reset the thermostat out in the hall in order to get heat in my room. I can see how the rooms at the front might suffer from street noise on a hot summer night.

The room was very comfortable and clean. Loved having a coffee maker and supplies in the room. The water in the fridge was a nice touch. Would definitely book here again.

I've stayed at the Sailors Rest twice in a month. The rooms are beautifully presented including fresh milk. Breakfast served at the Royal George was delicious and the staff warm and friendly. Thoroughly recommend.

Radiator in bathroom not working properly. Kettle would be better if it was one that separates from base. Bin in bathroom broken/or breaks. Too cheap. Needs a higher mirror to use. Some local biscuits and tea bags would be a great touch. Just ideas and thoughts really.

We booked room only. We had the option to book breakfast, which would have been in a hotel further on own the road. This isn't the reason why we didn't book it, but if we had and it had been raining, this may have been inconvenient, especially with an early check out time of 10 a.m. Shame we only stayed for one night - would have loved to have stayed longer.

The bed was great - comfortable and large!! The room was spacious and had two chairs to sit on for relaxing with a cuppa. Also nice to have a small bottle of milk in the fridge (as well as water), rather than milk capsules for the hot drinks. Everything looked and smelt clean and new. The location was great - right on the riverfront with plenty of pubs/restaurants on the doorstep. Car park is also close by, but we managed to park on the street in front of the hotel.

No decaffeinated tea and coffee in room (not a big deal but wanted to mention) Also the bed is far too soft for me liking so ruined my back a bit

Could have done with a mirror in the living area, as the ones in the bathroom were difficult to see in due to the sink being in the way. There is no on-site parking. But both minimal and a great stay.

Bit grubby behind bed above headboard and draws and artwork frames chipped and a bit bashed.

Great situation, stunning views, lovely warm and good shower. Great to watch village life passing by on the harbour outside.
