We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

BelgiumIf you don't watch out you can bump your head trying to get in and out of the beds. The shower was not always as clean but the cleaning lady drops by on a daily so it depends on the hostel guests I guess.
I usually don't book hostels anymore but London is just so overpriced. To be honest I had a good stay. The beds were actually one of the more comfortable ones I've experienced in hostels. I was in a shared ladies room. The ladies (nor the hostel overall was) weren't loud at all. The hostel has a shared kitchen/common area downstairs where you can cook/socialize if you'd like to. They work with the Goki app, which makes you feel safe (especially at night) because you unlock the front door and your room with a code. There are lockers in your room just bring a lock with you, although I used mine without one and it was fine. They also have a locker room to store your baggage in if you've already checked out (it's a paid service though). I loved Camden town (the area nearby). The markets there are just lovely! You can also take loads of buses and the tube to anywhere in London, just google it. London's transportation system is pretty good. Ps I also loved the people working reception, very kind gentlemen overall. They let me wait in the common area before check-in and even after check-out I could refill my water bottle downstairs and use the bathroom or charge my phone.

United StatesThe shower room is the bathroom in the room, but it doesn’t have a barrier, so the water gets all over the floor and makes it difficult to get dressed after a shower (you have to try to not touch the floor)
The people at the front desk were so nice! the beds have curtains for them, that was a good touch. the location was also great, right by a metro station and camden market/primrose hill!

PolandThe oven takes too long to heat up, the showers lack doors, so in result the whole bathroom ends up wet. The biggest issue for me were other clients who regularly failed to turn off the lights or clean up after themselves, whether it be in the kitchen or the bathrooms (I have never seen these many pubic hairs in a shower at once). I'm not certain on how to solve this issue other than just trying to remind the guests more of keeping things clean.
The beds were nice, the kitchen and lounge were both great facilities. Definitely enjoyed the lights and charging port inside the 'capsule' beds.

ItalyWashroom was absolutely terrible. I know you have to be versetile in an hostel, but I always stay in hostels and this was by far the worst washroom I've ever seen.
Perfect position to enjoy Camden Town, bus and metro stops 3 minutes walking. Young and motivated people of the staff. Possibility to leave the luggage in a locker after check-out for 3 pounds.

United KingdomThere isn't a lift, so for travellers who need one, this may not be a great option. The beds are also not the most comfortable in my opinion, but that is purely down to preference, I believe. Otherwise, this is a great place to stay.
I stay in hostels semi-regularly, and I can say with confidence that this quite possibly has to be one of the cleanest, nicest hostels I have ever stayed in. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are pretty spacious, the bunk beds have curtains so that you can block out the light, and the common areas are really spacious and clean, too, and has a few games to play. There's also a big kitchen which I didn't use, but I loved having that option to cook for myself during my stay. Each room does have a shared bathroom, as well as an extra sink outside of the bathroom, and lockers for your possessions. I was lucky enough to have quiet bunk mates in my room, and the hostel is located in the heart of Camden and within walking distance of various take-aways, restaurants, shops, two stations (Mornington Crescent and Camden Town) and more. It's a great place for a few nights stay, and I found it pretty safe overall for myself as a solo traveller. Also, while I did not have use for it, there is a washing machine on-site for those who want to clean their clothes. This is honestly a great, budget-friendly place to stay if you're travelling in London and want something fairly central, regardless of whether or not you are travelling solo or as a group.

Modern, clean, nice staff, spacious common room and cafeteria. I only slept there, didn’t spend too much time hanging around. As my first ever visit of hostel I felt safe and had really great experience.

BelgiumWe had a private room on the streetside - both street noises and noises from within the building were loud and clear. Next to that, the room was not clean and there were several black hairs clinging to the walls.

IrelandRoom was king of cold and in the basement. We had private room in the basement and it was right underneath the reception and entrance of the hostel. We could hear every single person and suitcase above our head and couldn’t take any sleep from 6am. Room was cold cause of the basement and too big window I guess. Toilet is extremely small and water from shower spraying all over the place.
Staff, location and price is really good!

Hungary- Broken window(left wide open most of the time) and turned on AC that you can’t regulate independently causing a lot of humidity, sore throat. Don’t go to room 204!!! - The humidity worsened my sickness because of the unstable temperature in room, 15 minutes it is too hot then it is cold again, while the window is open, that’s suffocating you and your sleep because you can’t close it.. so it was left wide open all the time. - I was forced to leave the place in the middle of the stay because of the crazy room temperature, under these circumstances they did not offer any refund, no compassion! I got recovered so quickly after it, which proves the fact that something is wrong with AC, as it wasn’t just me complaining about it. - So small room, like a cage literally I doubt it is 15m2.. the bathroom has no socket, so you might wake up to someone drying their hair right next to you at 8am - Triple bed that was designed for kids with height up to 140 cm, you can’t even be in a sitting position… - Didn’t feel safe in that neighborhood - The worst hostel(stayed in 20 hostels) I have ever stayed in. -

ItalyThe cleanliness depend on the education of guests so I can’t complain since I saw them cleaning properly, but it would be helpful (and it’s a cheap improvement) put tents for each bed to repair from the light of other guests coming and going. Also, keep in mind that - it’s the first time that I see that - there are three bed piles up, the first one at ground level, literally. So the space for yourself is extra narrow. The duvet provided was not sufficient.

Costa RicaThe night receptionist, he looks so lazy and unhappy to work there, our flight was delayed many hours we arrived around 1am thirsty and hungry, he had an arrogant attitude, we asked him for a place to buy something to eat and drink, he told us that at that hour everything around were close already, we when to sleep starving and next day we saw that there were a lot of 24h places restaurants and supermarkets just in the street behind and also they have in the kitchen a vending machine with snacks and soft drinks, He didn't even bother to tell us that. A terrible first impression. The bathroom in the room is too small, but the worst is the design you open de shower and all your stuff outside the shower gets wet, they have a problem to solve there.
The location is amazing, everything were clean, the beds are private and comfortable.

GermanyThe bathroom is rather small, generally the rooms are very small as well as the bunks. I am over 1.80cm (6.1ft) so getting into the top bunk was rather tough to manage. The bathroom was also quite dirty at times, though this cannot be only blamed on the hostel itself.
The location is perfect, its in a quiet street yet just a corner away from the busy street to camden market. Which can be also reached within 10 to 15 min by foot. The bus stop is right in front of the hostel and the undergroundstation isnt far either. Personel was very friendly and helpful. The common area was nice to relax or meet new people.

South AfricaThe first night I slept like a baby, the second night I didn't sleep a wink because one of the guests snored, now this is really not their fault, and it is the luck of the draw. The earplugs don't block out someone's snoring. The basin in the bathroom make it very difficult to waterfloss your teeth without spilling, because the soap dispenser is right above the tap, but the basin is tiny. Other than this, really nothing bad to say.
There are 2 different subway lines very close to the property, and I think around 7-8 different bus lines on every side of the block. It is also a 20 min walk to kings cross, it is just really well located and connected. The staff are soft spoken, kind and friendly. The beds pods you sleep in give you a lot of protection against the light, and gives you more than adequate privacy. The bedding they provide smells fresh and clean, the towels they provide that you pay extra for also smell really nice.
