The water barely worked. Sometimes couldn't flush the toilet properly. Sewer smell from the drain. Sleeping in bottom bunk was basically sleeping on the floor. Not enough room to sit up.

Location was easy to find. Staff were okay.

Room was stifling with the fan off (six people in a room, not everyone wants a fan on). Toilet seat was very loose. Beds are metal framed and VERY squeaky. Had a terrible night’s sleep, but that was due to other bunkers, and is the luck of a draw in a hostel.

Excellent location. Nice communal areas. 24/7 reception and bar. Clean. Decent room facilities (each hunk has elec socket, reading light, curtain, and phone holder) with en suite bathroom, fan, and lockable lockers. You get two clean sheets on arrival, and there’s a duvet on the beds.

I arrived around 2330 and the toilet in the room was disgusting. Someone had used the bed linen as a towel and left it on the floor. The floor was beyond soaked and a mixture of water and wet paper was gross. The fact that there are no shared toilets outside the room on the floors is really bad. The rooms are en-suite, but when shared between 6 strangers, and one of them decides to be locked in for 1 hour and 35 minutes, it makes very hard on the others. A communal toilet/shower in each floor would be very helpful. The walls are paper thin (not the hostel's fault), so you can hear everything from footsteps upstairs to the wheeling suitcases to the other inconsiderate guests with loud music on speaker and plenty of shouting until well after midnight which was not good. (not sure if reception was made aware of it)

Hygiene. We found cockroaches in the hallway when we informed the front desk the response was that there are no cockroaches in the UK. The communication wrt to the stay of children under the age of 10 was vague and we were asked to book another room at the time of check in.

Great location for the prices. 2 bus stops and three tube stations make connectivity convenient. One can just walk down to the Kensington gardens.

In a great location and easy to get to all locations by train. Not loud considering it’s a hostel and was fully booked.

- very small bunk beds (3 beds high!) in a very small room that heats up quickly - thin walls so it gets very noisy - rather old and run down bathroom facilities

- friendly staff - very close to the paddington station - curtains on the bunk beds allowed for a bit of privacy - fan in the room helped with the heat

The water pressure and hot water temperature were terrible. Adjoining guests were very noisey at all hours. The kitchen facility lacks enough crockery that wasn’t chipped/dirty, an oven and freezer facilities. I have medication which is required to be kept cold, when I asked the reception staff to freeze two small freezer pouches to allow us to keep the medicine cold for our long-haul flight home I was informed there were no freezing facilities for guests. This hasn’t been an issue in any other hostel, hotel or B&B we’ve used on this UK trip. The kitchen is closed 7am to 10am everyday to service the paid breakfast. Even though we showed up at 6:15am to make our own breakfast, staff showed up and took over the kitchen. They even wiped down the table we were still sitting at eating breakfast. Overall, the hostel lacked a traditional hostel vibe - kitchen/dining area was always empty. Laundry facilities is only 1 washer and 1 dryer which is used by house keeping.

The location was perfect, Hyde Park on your doorstep and Queensway, Bayswater and Paddington stations a very short walk.

Kitchen use is restricted in the morning which was fine but when I went to use it 15mins before close off time the staff who are also the cleaners told me I could not use it and yelled at me. Unfortunately a few not so great run ins with these staff. Front desk staff were great.
