Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaDinner was served by untrained staff, one of whom spilt a very full glass of red wine over the table. We were still charged for the whole bottle and on our departure staff tried to charge more than the price quoted for dinner. An overall disappointing stay.
On confirming the booking we received some lovely warm emails with directions from James, the owner of this beautiful grand house. Springkell has so much potential but sadly failed to reach it. The property is special and grounds are pleasant, the bed was comfortable and the room warm but the venue was more focussed on its wedding business than guest comfort or experience. We pre-booked for dinner which was set up in the cold foyer of the hotel due to the dining room being set for a wedding the following day. A much warmer, cozy lounge room with a fireplace could have been used for a few guests that were dining.

United Kingdomsome of the furnishing is a bit dated and a pubic hair at the back of the toilet seat. Also, charging £2 per kWh to charge an electric vehicle is scandalous and not mentioned when I enquired whether they had a charger.
Full of character, lots of history

United KingdomBecause it was winter and a quiet period we didn’t get a chance to use the common rooms, lounge and bar which is why I booked this hotel. As it was a country house so I thought. I understand there were very few guests but lounge not open all during out stay and were told the bar would be closed at 8:30 as we had to drive 35 mins ot find somewhere to eat the only place to relax on our return was our room. We had a good stay, but I’m sure it’s a wonderful place to stay when hotel is fully open.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, room was comfortable with a fab bathroom. Lovely quiet location, and a beautiful building. Breakfast was amazing

United KingdomThe Wardrobe in the room wasn't closing properly, the decor pictures in the room weren't appropriate, the basin sink took to long to dispose of the dirty sink water, the games room was basic with broken pool cues.. The drive in was a nightmare ref: large number of huge pot holes.. The food was okay not the best not the worst..
Room was very spacious with a sleek / modern style also clean with excellent views of the garden, the bed was very comfortable & changed regularly

PortugalDecadent, one feels so sorry. And it's not just about poor maintenance, it's about sloppiness... for example, in our room there was an extra bed ready, I don't understand for what purpose since it hadn't been asked, obviously for convenience we used it as a support for our things, will they change the sheets when a customer shows up and is going to use the extra bed? The food at dinner and breakfast was terrible, it didn't need to be exceptional but it didn't need to be that bad either. Anyways, what a pity.
Beautiful place and house.

United KingdomThe dirty headboard. 80% of the food especially the cheeseboard with rotten grapes on. Stale dry and cracked ice cold cheese. The chips with so much salt on it was all you could taste. The daytime staff particularly the disorganised and patronising "management". The stacked seats. The dingy walkway to the guest wing. The 25 minute wait at breakfast to get served. The attitude of the waitress at breakfast. The spiders webs and spiders in the bathroom. The fact dogs are allowed in the dining room.
The grounds, the haggis bonbons. The sunshine and some of the guests. The evening staff.

United KingdomThe room was so noisy. We were located in the hall behind the reception desk and there was so much noise from staff and guests. As the sound carries and echoes there was no chance of sleep until at least 1am when the house finally fell quiet. Also breakfast took an oddly long time. I ordered scrambled eggs and smoked salmon and had to wait over 15mins. We'd just stood up to leave when it was delivered. Food seemed to be served a lot quicker for other guests.
The house and grounds looked beautiful.
