Two small points here, which is why I've given 9/10. We were in Room 4 and the day bed was VERY squeaky. My son had that bed and every little turn meant a huge squeak... The pressure of the shower was pretty terrible, such a shame in a beautiful bathroom. I know it's probably down to being an old building and distance to the boiler etc however it made showering quite difficult, rinsing of the soap took a while 😂 however my FAM and I still had a wonderful stay ❤️

What an absolute gem of a find! A brilliant B&B, with the nicest team and tastiest food. Good old traditional pub downstairs and stylish rooms upstairs. Bathroom looked as though it had been through a recent glow-up. Never got to have a bath, 100% next time! We were in Room 4, a family room and there was plenty of space for the 4 of us to potter about and not fall over eachother. Breakfast was QUEEN. Lots of lovely breakfast dishes on offer. And finally, there was a lovely young lady who worked every part of the B&B. I didn't get her name but she was fabulous and so helpful.

Was all good, except no water in the room which is a samll thing.

First time staying there and I really enjoyed it. The room was modern and very comfortable and was bright and airy. Dinner was excellent and well priced and breakfast had good choices. I was gald to see there was no extra charge for a cappuccino which many places do now. Well done string of Horses. I can recommend this fabulous old charming pub to say.

Everything was first class. Stunning pub and luxury rooms. Food was some of the best we've had. Really wished we'd booked for 2 nights.

Old inn downstairs with modern renovated rooms upstairs. Checked in and asked if we intended dining there, which we did as not many options in the village. Were advised to book a time as they were likely to be busy. Food was excellent, both dinner and breakfast. Open fire and 2 log burners downstairs.

Efficient check-in, warm welcome from young lady on reception who had called me beforehand to check what time I'd be arriving. Room immaculately prepared, clean, comfortable. Highlight was meal in the bar that evening. The special of cod loin with cockle & leek risotto was exceptional - far exceeded my expectations, the sort of thing we'd have expected in a smart restaurant in town. Imaginatively conceived, finely cooked with high quality ingredients. Five star, bravo!

Having to go home.

Rooms super comfy and bathroom amazing...could've just done with having a shelf in shower cubicle and one by sink to put bits. Breakfasts cooked really well and could be altered to your liking. It was about 20 minutes into Carlisle ,down country lanes,but a nice quiet setting..Sue was really helpful and nothing too much trouble.
