Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

The heating could have been turned on earlier as it was quite cold on arrival. This was only a minor issue though.
How clean the space was. Perfect for my needs.

The property was quite cold and the heating struggled to heat both the upstairs and the stairway and hall way. We managed to sort the heating in the end and there were blankets to use whilst sitting and also electric blankets for the beds which we didn't need to use in the end, but it was reassuring that they were there should we need them. One small suggestion would be a welcome pack, nothing spectacular, just a welcome card, with a note saying milk in the fridge and some tea and coffee with some jam and marmalade for example. I know it's not a hotel but these little touches always bring a smile.
The property was spacious, open plan, lovely decor and just right for our stay.

The only thing I can think of is that I would have liked a draining rack for the sink when washing up. Not a big issue! Note that the bathroom is downstairs by the front door. Fine for me, but good to know if you are likely to need the loo in the middle of the night.
Comfy bed, powerful thermostic shower, easy parking, decent kitchen, friendly host and convenient location for work, walks and pubs.

Perhaps a hook in the bathroom nearer to the shower cubicle, to make it easier to reach, but that's just a suggestion. It did not detract from the overall accommodation being great.
Lovely host, and the accommodation was clean, comfortable, perfect for me and my daughter. Great location for visiting Winchester, Jane Austen's House in Chawton, Stonehenge and even Highclere Castle is not too far.

Nothing. All was very good.
The owners are really friendly and available. We were a bit fussy asking for extra stuff and they were able to find a solution to everything. The studio is really nice for a couple. It was very clean. We enjoyed the surrounding pubs. And also, the location is wonderfull. Close to many towns.

Commitments meant we had to come home.
The studio was above a detached garage adjoining the owner's property. It was lovely and warm given that we were there for two very icy nights and the beds were exceptionall comfortable with the option of an electric blanket if needed. The small L-shaped kitchen was very well equipped and thought out but do read the information, (which was very comprehensive), regarding the induction hob. well equipped. It really is simple to use once you know how! The Test valey villages are very special with several lovely inns in the are. We had a lovely Sunday lunch at the Mayfly on the Test about two miles away from the studio that we walked to, (seemingly the long way round). When it is not so muddy there are lovely walks along the Test Way throughout the whole area.

We stayed during a cold spell and struggeled a bit with the heating system. Alice gave as warm water bottles which helped a lot.
The studio in the field is a lovely place, very well equipped and super clean. We enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend the place if you are looking for a great stay and want to go for walk or explore the area.

Studio in the Field, with its well-equipped and stylish interior, made the perfect base for my four-night stay whilst visiting friends and family in the area. Highly recommended - absolutely superb!

Internet wasn’t the best. Even though there is a smart tv we tethered off my mobile rather than the Wi-Fi to watch Amazon. It was an unseasonably hot couple of days, so a fan would have been appreciated ! We hoped that the two single bed divans would clip together to make a double and stop any ‘drifting’. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case and one of us would inevitably end up down the gap haha.
It’s your own little oasis in the country. You can come and go as you like but Alice was the perfect host and always on hand if needed.
