The room decor was a little dated and the bathroom could have been improved.

Beautiful location, food was great, entrance and bar area very smart. All staff were friendly and welcoming and very helpful. Access to a swimming pool too.

The Sauna/steam room were out of order which was a shame. The curtain in my bedroom came off the rail (the plastic fasteners were very flimsy and came off when I first opened them) and I reported this to reception but it wasn't fixed during the stay. I still enjoyed my stay however.

Staff were all very friendly. Service in the bar and restaurant were excellent. The location and gardens were great and I enjoyed the overall atmosphere.

The room was spacious and clean, the staff was helpful and kind. The location is perfect for Hadrian's wall hikers' right on the trail. The restuarant is great :)

The swimming pool and gym are small and look rather tired. The staff could have been more welcoming and engaging. In a few interactions, I found most of them rather distant and cool. The one exception was the bar tender with the thinning black hair who was lovely. Sorry, I didn't catch his name.

The location is outstanding, as are the patio and the buffet breakfast. I could imagine reading by the fire in one of the lounges on a cold winter's day. The restaurant and lounges were very clean, well furnished and inviting.I thought it was excellent value for money at less than £60pp for bed and breakfast including use of a pool. I would certainly like to return and stay for 3-5 nights.

Wonderful location to photograph the bridge over the River Tyne, but the flag on the flagpole in the hotel grounds is an eyesore, in an otherwise picturesque view.

Great location, ideal as on bus route along Hadrian’s Wall. Staff friendly and helpful. Great breakfast and room clean and comfortable

Central booking ... kept asking me to book dinner etc. but I already had so didnt know if anything on the system. Upgrade accepted but none given. Charge to room didn't work. Decor faded. Coffee at breakfast insipid.

Excellent position ... outside in garden having dinner overlooking the North Tyne. Staff very friendly and efficient. Plenty of parking. Just off the Roman Road.

Staff are very welcome and front of house staff very good and helpful. Reception couldn't go out of her way to make you welcome .

Two staff were unsatisfactory. The older reception lady was downright unfriendly. She also gave us the wrong person's bill when we checked out which we would have been very unhappy with if it had been our bill that was shown to others. No non-dairy milk out in breakfast area - I had to ask for it and was only given a tiny jug. Gym equipment was functional but tired and rusting in places, not what you expect from a hotel like this. Noise from lorries on the nearby road bridge was disturbing in the bedroom.

Beautiful riverside location and gardens, comfortable room. Limited but decent vegan food options at dinner and they made the risotto vegan for me, though it arrived rather over-peppered. Great informal areas near the bar with armchairs and lovely views which made it a place you could really relax and spend time in.

Outdated, creaky, smelly corridors, windows in our room were locked, no aircon/any ventilation in a stuffy room, lucky we could change to another where we could open the windows

The shower in our room was useless...

Great location. Nice hotel and friendly staff... when you could find them. We had to go looking for the receptionist to check out. But other than that, the staff were friendly and helpful. Dinner was nice, and the packed lunch was excellent.

It's a level old hotel right on Hadrian's Wall path so the location is great.

Windows need cleaning, better attention to cleaning areas such as skirting and ledges. Net curtains need a wash in bedrooms.

Brilliant location for Wall walkers like us. Sea bass dinner was excellent and breakfast was suitably hearty! Pool was a rare bonus.

Really enjoyed our stay, breakfast was lovely and they were really accommodating to our dog. Lovely view of the river and gardens and bridge from our room. Would definitely recommend.
