Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe food at dinner was a bit too rich for me
The breakfast was delicious. The Crab and Boar is informal and friendly but also very well run.

United KingdomThere was nothing to dislike.
This was an absolutely amazing pub with rooms. As soon as we entered, we were greeted warmly and immediately shown to our rooms, which were beautifully decorated, very well furnished and extremely comfortable. We were even given a little flask with fresh milk to be able to make a drink in our room. We returned to the bar and I have to say, the cocktails were fabulous. It was such a lovely warm relaxed failing in the bar that we felt very much at home. We went out for the evening and returned once again to spend a couple of hours in the bar. We had a fabulous night’s sleep in an extremely comfortable bed and breakfast in the morning was again, superb. We would have no hesitation in staying at this pub again and look forward to returning sometime in the very near future.

United KingdomNothing. Everything was excellent.
Conversations beforehand, to arrange dinner, organise menus and ensure the rooms had the right number of beds were all excellent and really personable. The landlady was great when we arrived, managing a group of 15 of us, some who were staying, and some who were just dining. Same was true the next morning too. Really professional as well as friendly. Really enjoyed by our entire group.

United StatesThe road could get a little noisy at commute times but quiet the rest of the time.
I loved the spacious clean room and the view of the farm field. They provided us with americano coffee's in the morning that we could take back to our room and enjoy the view. The food was amazing and I highly recommend Sunday Roast dinners. The breakfast was items off the menu. All menu items were fresh and cooked to order. Other Inns we stayed at offered cold options on a buffet. Crab and Boar was exceptional as Pub and Inn goes. I highly recommend it.

United KingdomBathroom very small. Plumbing for sink in bathroom not actually sealed! Opening the ‘plug’ resulted in a flooded bathroom, and shower unit not sealed, resulting in more leaks. Noisy bins banging at 6am! accompanied by barking dogs! Lunch was ok, nice restaurant with nice countryside view (outside seating also available) but would have been better if salting left to consumer, far too much salt on chips pre-salted by chef! Staff seemed ‘busy’, so completing one job at a time is usually best, and good idea to ensure the waiter knows what food is being served each day. Rustic bathroom decor is an acquired taste. The lighting in the bedroom extremely poor, and in bathroom was very poor, woefully inadequate, and ‘illuminated’ mirror didn’t.
Interesting hotel. Nice rural location, with pleasant grounds, extensive free parking. Friendly helpful staff. Some issues with bathroom plumbing, which were noted and hopefully fixed for the next guests. The steep narrow external stairs to access our room were a challenge with bags, and would prohibitively challenging for less able guests. Noise was an issue early on the first morning, seemed to be early bin collection, and what appeared to be inconsiderate guests with large barking dogs early in the morning. Overall a good experience, but could be improved by the absence of the aforementioned. Good cooked breakfast, with individual requirement kindly fulfilled. Excellent coffee on first morning, strangely not so on second morning. Nice restaurant.

United KingdomI doubt breakfast could have been better. We were waited on by Rebecca, the hard-working and cheerful manager rather than being subjected to a soul-less buffet. The food was freshly cooked and piping hot. However......the room was a real disappointment! The king-size bed was a standard double (135cm wide, not 150cm) which matters to oldies of ample dimensions. There was no dressing table or drawers (other that bedside) and no hanging space apart from a broom cupboard with a rail masquerading as a built-in wardrobe and the shower was completely inaccessible to geriatrics as the bath sides were too steep to stand in and there were no safety handles for those less stable to hang on to. Our room looked directly onto the main road and the wooden window had warped so couldn't be properly closed and we were subjected to traffic noise and wind noise all night. We spoke to Rebecca, the Manager about these at breakfast in the morning and she informed us that refurbishments were in hand. But until then we can't recommend the Crab and Boar despite the otherwise lovely atmosphere, staff and excellent cooking.
The breakfast was excellent.

United KingdomAs my husband is a little unsteady on his legs a bath mat to put down in the bath for showering would have been useful. (not a complaint though)
