Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe location of The Cross Keys is very central in Sherborne. It is almost next door to the main church / cathedral. Sadly, the chimes every quarter of an hour do not appear to stop during the night. This led to a very disturbed nights sleep, if any at all. It would also be very helpful, to people like myself that like a thin pillow, to have a choice of pillows on the bed rather than 4 very fat pillows (which look great but are not always practical). I doubt anyone sleeps on 2 fat pillows. Why not 2 fat and 2 thin.
The room, cleanliness, staff were all very good. Breakfast very enjoyable.

United KingdomSo, this wasn’t necessarily the hotels fault but we had two rooms at the front of the hotel overlooking the square at the front of the hotel where the seating area was. This meant that if you wanted some quite time in your room it was impossible because the noise coming from the seating area was extremely loud, particularly on the first night of our two night stay which was a Friday. Two groups of very drunk foul mouthed middle aged people who should have known better drank and swore at a volume I could hardly have imagined was possible and they sat there for around 3 hours which made the room basically unusable. No double glazing meant the noise was sadly all too easy to hear. If I went back I would not want those rooms again. I understand the hotel is in the town centre so it’s reasonable to expect some noise but this was way over the top and instead of asking the drinkers to perhaps moderate their language ( which was really really foul) they just kept serving them more booze! Given a choice, which I wasn’t, those two rooms would not be the ones I’d pick. The thing is , that the owners must know these rooms get lots of noise from the drinking space right below them so should really think through the damage to the hotels reputation by booking unsuspecting guests into them. Again I emphasise this is not necessarily the hotels fault, but I will bet that anyone who has ever stayed in those two rooms at the front have never booked them again. It’s the kind of thing you can’t know until you get there by which time it’s too late to do anything about but the owners should really give some thought to that because for us it really spoilt our stay and the racket continued all night on the Friday until after 11pm. So I would recommend every other aspect of the hotel but only if I had a room at the back, no chance I would book the two rooms we had ever again.
Super friendly helpful staff, we had a nice pub style dinner on night one and a good breakfast the following morning. The bar and outside area was clean and tidy and the staff were quick to serve us with our orders. They also made sure we had everything we needed and were always on hand to check everything was ok. Can’t fault the serving staff. The welcome was good and the guy who welcomes us ( I think the owner) was very pleasant and helpful

United KingdomTwo night stay, second night was kept awake by very noisy young student type characters, It wasn’t until I had to shout out the window to the group to be quite, at 3:00 in the morning, that they did stop making the noise, They appeared to be outside the D’uverville ? I don’t know what the building is used for,
The arrival greeting was very good, the room was good. We expected a good two night stay.
