Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. There wasn’t anything we didn’t enjoy. Terence and piper made us feel very welcome.
The breakfast was superb, great hosts with a lovely home.

Parking might’ve been a bit tight, but we didn’t have a car to park so it didn’t matter. Plus there was parking on the road opposite

Terrace and Piper were lovely hosts, interesting friendly and informative. The house and garden are beautiful. Breakfast was the best we have eaten at hotel or B&B. We spent an hour in the hot tub which was great. Thank you both for a wonderful stay. X

it was a lovely place to stay. property is gorgeous room beautifully decorated. with toiletries a coffee machine. i did not use but saw that is a sauna and hot tub that could be used for additional charge. the bar was lovely and so reasonably priced. the gardens are lovely and lots of different seating areas to enjoy a drink in and enjoy some peace and nature. the hosts are excellent. welcoming personable it felt like staying with friends. breakfast choices were good and chose the night before then its cooked freshly for you.

Absolutely nothing
Wow absolutely everything This hotel is amazing Piper and Terrance are fantastic and can not do enough for you Loved the bar a couple of Peroni’s and a chat before going into Ilfracombe on an evening The gardens are amazing The breakfast is of a really good quality and plentiful Our room was fabulous lots of little extras and immaculately clean Off road parking a bonus I cannot rate this hotel highly enough just wish it was closer to where we live

Very informative and friendly hosts. Lovely room,coffee, tea facilities in room. The little extra touches eg help yourself to fresh milk eye masks,toiletries. Breakfast was amazing, good choice to suit everyone. And more than enough even for those with a big appetite. There is access to the garden. There is a Sauna,gym,hot tub small cinema available to use at a extra cost.

Piper and Terence made us feel so welcome during our stay and remembered things like what we were up to and even what our toast preferences were at breakfast. We had really communication before we arrived and couldn't fault our room and the location of their home (5 min walk to the wedding venue we were going to). Breakfast was delicious and the room was excellent value.

There is absolutely nothing to dislike about this wonderful place and owners.
Terrence and Piper are wonderful hosts with a stunning home which they let us share. Had a slight mishap with the bathroom door handle at 22.30 and Piper promptly rocked up and sorted 😂
