The room was a bit small and dark

So pleased they allowed dogs into the breakfast room and she had a doggy bag (never happened before). They understood what it is like to own a dog.

Room a bit tight in space to move around.

Good access in a building also working as a pub and restaurant. Comfortable room. Friendly and helpful staff.

Car park is small , breakfast was disappointing , coffee machine make your own very poor would have been nice to have other coffees as an option , felt cold and unwelcoming although the staff were very good chatty and helpful . Bar in the evening was grubby and seemed to me like a hang out for staff members .

Great location right by Chatsworth house .

Very creaky floors, concerned about disturbing other guests as we moved around our room. Feature of older buildings, I guess. Wouldn't put me off staying again.

The staff were excellent. Great customer service , very friendly and welcoming. We had a lovely evening meal and were served by Ruby, who was very helpful and attentive. Our room was comfortable with a great choice of drinks and a nightcap as well as lots of toiletries. Breakfast was very nice, good choice. Location was perfect for our weekend visit to Chatsworth

The room, staff and hotel were all excellent however the cooked breakfast was disappointing. My friend had scrambled eggs the 2nd morning which tasted burnt. There was a great selection of continental breakfasts though Really good location for exploring the area and good parking on site. The staff were really friendly and lovely

Due to the age and structure of the property noises from around the building such as foot steps and doors opening and closing and other guests and staff talking was very noticeable and distracting. Particularly during the night.

It was furnished nicely and kept up to date without losing the country inn feel.

Disappointing breakfast. We waited a long time for the cooked breakfast which was only lukewarm. Bacon was overdone and almost burnt.

Excellent location. Lovely little touches such as the nightcap , welcome note and chocolates. Very friendly staff.

The food 😖 lamb shepherds pie was burnt, meat was tasty but not enough potato & it was dry & v burnt on top creamed cabbage was chewy (under cooked) husbands eggs were hard chips were dry gammon was ok. Pear crumble was nice. We had a long wait from sitting down to food coming

The breakfast was only just warm (I like hot food) Egg & bacon was far too over cooked bacon to crispy & fried & poached egg hard muffin burnt around the edges & soggy in the middle hash brown over cooked dry & crispy. Asked for mushrooms with bacon didn’t get them Room wasn’t ready at 3pm got in at 3-30 we asked for a free complementary drink (got on) & was given a bottle of Prosecco with our evening meal

Shower temperature was not quite hot enough even on the highest setting, but was fine

Booking for breakfast worked well, no queuing! Breakfast was cooked fresh to order instead of "buffet style" Dined on the Wednesday "supper club" food was excellent with a bonus of £ 10 received off the price of a bottle of wine. Plenty of car parking spaces

The hotel was lovely - comfortable and friendly - very welcoming. Bedroom though very dark and badly lit. Lighting needs improvement. Loved having fresh milk available in the rooms ( small fridge in the lobby to help yourself - brilliant ). BUT breakfast was as late as 8.30 which we didn’t know about until arrival. We were very concerned about that - we needed an early start. We asked if we could help ourselves to the buffet before that - we were told the doors are locked and open at 8.30 precisely. We learnt the next morning we could have had a continental breakfast provided early - but we weren’t offered it. given our concern about the timing we should’ve been told about that . This has affected our review of what is a nice place to stay.

Compact double bedroom, the designer should spend a couple of days staying there, several small changes would make it more comfortable/user friendly.

Great location, lots of nice extra touches.
