Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe bed was not very comfortable and very unstable. The room was tired, wallpaper peeling from the wall and carpet really tired and threadbare. Breakfast was ok but no fresh fruit available. The food on the second night was nowhere near as good as the first night. Half the size and my dish was supposed to come with buttered greens. There were 4 limp green beans. The food was not worth the price we paid. We spoke to the waitress and she said the manager would speak to us in the morning. No one spoke to us.
Excellent meal on the first night of our stay. Shower was very hot and had good pressure. All staff were very polite. Location excellent and very convenient for walks around Chatsworth.

I noticed that dogs are very welcomed here to by staff so I will be returning with my companion in toe, looking forward to returning very soon. Thank you Amie and team x

United KingdomRooms were subject to a lot of noise, due to problems with “shower pump” currently being moved downstairs. We were only informed about this on arrival. The tv in the next room was directly behind the headboard in our room, we could hear every word from to all evening. No Prosecco, no salmon no mackerel no fish and chips available on the menu NO WIFI AVAILABLE FOR THE WHOLE OF OUR STAY, again only informed of this on arrival
Location was good, staff were visible and friendly

United KingdomIt is an average pub and not a country pub with any luxury. The double beds are very short and uncomfortable. Hot water ran out both evenings.

United KingdomWifi. Couldn't access the cloud, not sure if that was offered by the property but it wouldn't connect. Not the end of the world not to have it, but 4g was patchy on my phone due to location - to be expected in a rural setting though.
Good breakfast, made to order. Very tasty. Bedroom was great, had our own outdoor area next to the stream with a lovely sofa and four poster style bed. Bed was very comfy. Service for dinner and from the bar was excellent. Our waitress was brilliant- apologies, I forget her name but she was great!

GermanyRoom was very small, a lot of background noise from plumbing through the night, the bed was a small double. Dogs in the restaurant, pretentious menu selection for dinner and not cheap either, very limited breakfast menu, coffee bags used at breakfast first time ever experienced this in a hotel. Very disappointing overall and regrettably would not recommend, extremely overpriced. The only plus is the excellent staff.
Good location for our purpose.

Staff were lovely, couldn’t do enough for you. Very welcoming. Our room was also lovely and cosy. We met our family for a meal in the restaurant which was excellent. We will definitely go back next year for our annual visit to chatsworth house.

United KingdomRooms were tired and need attention, entrance to hotel unmanned and staff area open to guests, bed was terrible and food very basic and expensive with no atmosphere in pub, breakfast was packed away before finished so I was unable to have any toast or second coffee. No hot water in evening and shower broken. The bedroom furniture was Argos standard.

United KingdomWe were in room 4 which is a small room that we were aware of prior to arrival so no issues there. However this room is clearly next to the heat/water pump system that should go off at 2230hrs and come back on at 0730hrs. Unfortunately I had to ask for it to be switched off at 2330hrs and it actually came on at 0700hrs and trust me it makes a right noise for the duration that it's on and in room 4 there is no avoiding it so please be aware of this. In fairness the staff did say there will be refurb next year and this will resolve the matter.
great location and the staff were fantastic, even arranged a bottle of prosecco in our room as a birthday treat, what a lovely touch and a nice surprise. Breakfast was lovely and just topped off a really enjoyably stay in a lovely little village with a couple of cracking pubs and a nice little Italian restaurant.

United KingdomThe room and bed were small for a property that we paid 153.00 on a Monday night. The bedroom was tired and the food was expensive. £24.00 for a pie that would be £15.00 to £17.00 anywhere else.
The location was good as we had been to Chatsworth House for the day
