Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThere was a little road noise.
Stayed whilst we visited Chatsworth House. Compact but comfortable room, very comfy bed. Nice en suite, fluffy towels. Complimentary Devonshire Arms Ale in the room, along with quality tea and coffee. Staff very friendly, and evening meal very nice with generous portions. Breakfast was delicious, plenty of choice, excellent hosts.

United KingdomThere was nothing about this hotel and our stay that we didn't like.
The welcome we received when we arrived. The hosting by all staff. The comfortable surroundings. Food in the restaurant was excellent at both dinner and breakfast. The thank you and handshake when checking out.

NetherlandsThe venue is tired and there are sofas that are dropping to bits. The pub area was a mess with food and debris lying around from a busy lunch-service and the tables were sticky and unwiped. The bar-staff and manageress were nonchalant and borderline arrogant. There was no communication about "last orders" at the bar and residents were herded to their rooms, whilst a group (locals) were clearly permitted to hang around. Another resident asking about a hot chocolate was told they didn't do it. These bar staff / manageress was obviously not bothered about the overnight guests The food in the restaurant was not great. The starter - supposed to be cauliflower pakoras were soggy and the batter had clearly failed. They were tindaloo spicy (even for someone that has spent much time in south east Asia) and blasted your palette to smithereens. The roast beef was good but the accompaniments were poor - leftovers from lunchtime heated up. Despite having returned the pakora dish half eaten this cynically remained on the bill.
The breakfast staff and quality of the food was good but this did not redeem what was a an overall poor experience. The waitress at dinner was also polite and did her best

United KingdomA warm welcome by staff, and great bar service (super wine list and champagne by the glass too!). The room was lovely and had everything you needed, the filter coffee, water and complimentary beers which was a nice touch. A beautiful 20-minute walk to Chatsworth House via the river, such a fantastic location.

United KingdomThe room was a little shabby and the bed was terrible unfortunately. Mattress was very soft and flat - possibly old I would say. Also, the floorboards in the room and corridor were as creaky as I’ve heard, so every movement either past the room or within the room would wake you up.
The staff and management at the hotel were absolutely first class. Very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. They clearly enjoy their jobs and are like a family together - was great to see and enjoy their hospitality. The hotel was advertised as ‘dog’ friendly’, but this was just the minimum. They made a such a fuss over the dog that I think he would have preferred to stay there when we left! Overall, a great place to stay.

United KingdomA bit pricey compared to our previous knowledge -- but these are tricky times for fixing prices.
Excellent breakfast & Dinner (with wide, well-explained menu). Great, helpful staff determined to help an older infirm couple (82-85) to enjoy 4-night stay away from home after 3-year lock-down. Clean, prompt and helpful at all times. One detached plug-chain and a sticky shower tap only minor problems.

United KingdomHigh price paid on Booking.com £180 against £130 direct with hotel. Considering high price paid i expected a better experience. Advised no bar food available due to power cut, then asked if could do cold sandwich as needed food after travelling, then said food could be made , paid £92 for 4 chicken skewer, overpriced for bar food. Was asked to leave bar early as the pub was closing due to power cut. Very disappointed not to spend the evening with friends as arranged. Could not find way to room, complete darkness, no power at all. Asked staff for candles who took up upstairs to sleep in another room with power, again no power. Couldn't charges phones, husband has medical issue and could not change stoma device due to lack of light during the night, had to wait for early morning daylight, was in pain due to skin burn. Noise from fire and carbon monoxide alarms kept us awake as well as the sound of digging power cables outside the building through the night. Staff were friendly but overall experience very poor.

United KingdomRoom size and bed too small. £200 you expect at least a reasonable level of comfort.
Excellent location. Room was really small, but would’ve been manageable if it hadn’t been for the bed being very small (I’m 6 ft and could lie straight in bed) with what felt like cheap linen and pillows. For £200 a night this is poor value. TV not much larger than a ipad pro. Breakfast was good.

United KingdomThe welcome by staff was fantastic. I was very tired after a very long day and had arrived earlier than expected but it was no problem. My bag was carried up to my gorgeous room and I was fitted in early for a lovely dinner in the restaurant. I had to leave before breakfast was served so can’t comment but I’m sure it is equally lovely.
