The bed was a bit small

The staff really excel at the Devonshire. We received a very warm welcome, and this continued throughout our stay. Our room was clean and equipped with tea and coffee making facilities

Breakfast was a little disappointing, pastries were over cooked as were the poached eggs.

The location for an event at Chatsworth was perfect. Staff at the hotel were really welcoming and helpful before we arrived. The hotel room was nice and well equipped, I liked you san get fresh milk from the fridge at the bottom of the stairs.

Bedding must have had plastic lined mattress and pillows as I woke several times 'over-heated' - which I never tend to be. Otherwise, a very comfortable bed

The only criticism was that the bedside lights were fixed with very directional shades which meant that it was very difficult to try and read in bed as there was little light. This is a minor quible, but this would make the room perfect.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bed was super comfortable and the room well serviced. Breakfast was good as was the evening meal that we had.

The coffee machine at breakfast was terrible and produced not very hot coffee.

The location. Right at the gates to Chatsworth house. The hotel/pub was very nice. The room, ground floor was great but a little tired. Nothing a coat of paint wouldn't put right. The breakfast had a good choice, both hot and cold. Car park was very useful.

The bed was too small, my companion is 185 and his feet touched the bottom and mattress very irregular, and bathroom needed updating.

Typical English pub with its old fashioned and warm atmosphere. Breakfast was top and so was the staff. Lovely crisp sheets.

Decor and furnishings getting a little dated. The view from our room was of the kitchen yard and was dissapointing.

Superb breakfast, Dinner menu was good and reasonably priced. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good location and parking.

It rains a lot in the Peak District and we got drenched and our clothes got very wet. We thought they’d dry on the towel rails but when we were there neither the towel rails or radiators could be turned on so we returned in wet clothes which wasn’t pleasant. Tea and coffee in the rooms was excellent but the tea at breakfast was undrinkable as they only provide a flask of hot water which doesn’t do the job of boiling water from the kettle. I’ve never stayed anywhere before that doesn’t provide a pot of tea at breakfast. However it was ok as we went back to our rooms, made a decent cup and took them into breakfast with us 😊
