Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe Feathers is an incredibly classy and luxurious hotel in the picturesque little town of Helmsley. I have stayed before, and enjoy going back. Rooms are decorated to perfection and have the comfort and luxury that follow its reputation. Food was delicious- and plenty of care given to special diets. The staff are courteous and kind, and go out of their way to help- I was assisted with my bags when i was leaving. They were flexible, and enabled me to invite a friend to join me for dinner one night, and even made room for her labrador as they have a dog-friendly room in the restaurant.

United KingdomNothing it was perfect
The hotel was great from start to finish. The staff were lovely and room, meals and just little things like being able to leave our luggage for a couple of hours while we looked round were spot on.

United KingdomThere were only 5 parking spaces on site but there was free on street car parking and a long term stay car park which was reasonably priced for 24 hours so it wasn't a problem.
We were given a room which overlooked the town square; the room was spacious with a huge bed, good tea and coffee making facilities and a more than adequate shower/bathroom.

AustraliaNot a hotel problem but a Booking.com issue about parking. In the filter I selected parking, expecting designated parking. Some very limited on site parking is available which cannot be guaranteed. Otherwise it is street parking. To be fair to the hotel, this is stated on their page. I recommend Booking.com write a better script for the filter feature so the options are clearer. Fortunately the manager, Keith, came up with a solution.
Staff were the stand out for this hotel. My room was comfortable and well appointed. The restaurant food was good. The service was great.

United KingdomOur room number 5 was very ‘compact’ with little opportunity to store clothing other than in our suitcase. Parking is a significant issue with only room for about 6 vehicles, there is however on road parking.
We have stayed this hotel a previous occasion, it is a comfortable property, with really helpful staff. Breakfast is good, we dint have dinner there.

United KingdomI can honestly say there is nothing we didn’t like about our stay
Located in the centre of this beautiful market town, the Feathers Hotel is the perfect stay. Our room was cozy and comfortable. With everything you’d expect from a hotel room, they go that extra mile. Fresh milk to take to the room, interesting reading material in the room, even a calendar that is the correct date - sometimes it is the extra details that make a hotel stand out from the others.

United KingdomRoom was small but the gentleman checking us in was apologetic and would have provided a larger one if there was one available
Facilities in the room were excellent, water, biscuits, range of tea and coffee. Room, although small was comfortable, lovely bed. We had our dog with us and he was provided a bowl, treats, bags and a ball, which was a lovely touch. Staff were all really friendly and helpful.

United KingdomParking was limited to a first come first served basis to the rear of the building. We did manage to park there for the second night though. More convenient.

Following a booking mix up with Booking.com, we were given a complimentary one night stay and evening meal at the Feathers. The staff, particularly Mary, were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel itself was really comfortable and was right in the centre of town. Food was delicious and the bar was very cosy. No complaints whatsoever!
