not a huge amount of space to put anything in the bedroom. The table was very busy with complimentary Gin & Coffee (NOT a bad point), which made space limited for anything else. Honestly, not much else to fault really.

Offer a cracking breakfast. Restaurant serves up a phenomenal dinner where service is prompt and efficient without. Alex and Tquila behind the bar are exceptional, will make you feel right at home! Excellent wine selection! Bedrooms are quaint, well appointment and beautifully decorated.

We were very lucky to get a superb value for money room. It was warm, lovely sheets/towels, wifi good, lighting was great. The shower was super and a great breakfast! The staff were super friendly. We would come again!

Seriously.. this one is hard to answer, ..wasn't keen on the black pudding at breakfast, this doesn't affect 10/10 score 👍

Staff go above and beyond to accommodate anything you need, so helpful and nice, including the gentleman who cleaned my room. Took my dog for the two night stay, the room was lovely, the bar is nice, the food was nice. Good location base to explore the area, 30 mins to Oxford, enjoyed some beautiful local walks.

Bathroom could do with a tidy up (mould on ceiling and limescale on shower head and connector.) Not very appealing to want to have a shower. Staff, although helpful when asked just didn’t seem to be that enthusiastic!

Constantly informed with messages of information after booking and made to feel nothing was too much trouble. Location and decor was very nice, early room availability was a bonus along with ample parking and a lovely breakfast!

For one night the room was perfect, any more would be too small. There was a decanter in the room with some complimentary gin in it - dried out in the base, could have been there for six months. There was no Guinness, no Sauvignon Blanc and no trio of lamb :-(

Food can be a bit hit and miss as we’ve stayed before when it was good, when we got to the bar there were glasses on every table and staff were blasé about it and stood at the bar being completely ignored for quite some time!!

There was little to complain about. Minor points: we could hear some noise from the neighbouring room, breakfast service was not quite as good on our second morning: coffee not hot enough, some missing items in the buffet. We didn’t like our restaurant bill having a 12.5% service charge added. The service was excellent but the choice of how much to add should be at the client‘s discretion. On querying the amount we were told it could be removed but that would have left us feeling mean!

We enjoyed the breakfast choices; the food was lovely. Our room was beautifully decorated and furnished and very comfortable. The sloe gin was a nice and unexpected welcome. We ate in the restaurant on our first night. The food and service were outstanding.

The closeness to the road is a bit much. I had booked a room far from The road after reading the reviews of previous guests, but they were initally taking us to a room facing the street until we kindly asked for a different room because I had explicitly said I didn’t want to be close to the road. We were taken to a room close to the road but not facing it so maybe those are the rooms that we needed to be in..

We loved how clean and modern everything was. How close it is to Highclere Castle and the amazing breakfast spread.
