The shower cubicle looked "tired", rust stains in the grouting, and I think mould too, but otherwise everything was clean.

Room 2 could could have been a bit noisy as its above the bar and we stayed on a busy Friday night, but nothing a trusted pair of ear plugs could not sort, it was very comfortable, a good temperature and hence very cosy. Room 3 did not have an en-suite - not a problem as long as you aware.

Pizza in the lodge was excellent and the lodge had a good atmosphere. Guinness seemed to be the drink in demand and for good reason, it was spot on. Breakfast in the bar area was a good quality English fried breakfast.

Something bleeping in the corridor outside all night 🥴 The entrance and hallways were untidy and unwelcoming Rain came in through the fireplace during the night

The room could do with some improvements so that it matched it's price point. For instance a couple of the bathroom fittings were either rusty or dirty. Maybe a Smart TV.

The breakfast was delicious. The room was reasonable. I had been concerned you may get noise from the pub downstairs but I didn't hear any. Overall decent stay and very handy for Alton Towets.

Beautiful room with tiny double bed and used hairbrush in bedside drawer. I understand that it's difficult to maintain these old buildings but sleeping area needs renovating.

Cleanliness, floor hadn't been vacuumed, other peoples hair clips and hair. Heater in closet very dusty so when we pulled it out it wasn't ideal, shower needs attention with silicone and door.

Staff were very friendly and attentive, bed was very comfy. Pizzas in the restaurant were amazing.

Beds were interesting as we shared the family room, one was okay but the other bed was so noisy when moving in the night!

There was a lot of hair in the bathroom. In the plug holes and around the shower head. The interior of the property felt dated and not particularly clean with old worn carpets and uncomfortable beds.

The rooms are above the bar .....it was really quiet until 9pm when the Quiz night started...very loud and made the beds shake. All good after 11.30pm. Some renovations still going on and there were areas of rubish and the laundry trolley was left in an untidy state.

Location was good for our steam train and station visits. Room and facilities were clean. Breakfast was excellent. Staff were lovely.

Needs TLC. There is work going on to improve facilities. Noisy from passing traffic. Food menu very orientated to chips( which were excellent) Bed in room 2 very low which is not good for those with mobility problems.

Easy to find. Nice beer garden. Friendly welcome from staff. Excellent breakfast cooked to order.

Shower burnt us and froze us . Bed really creaky, no good for newly weds. Luckily we aren’t.

The locals. Had such a great night talking with the locals. Breakfast was cooked to perfection, could not fault it. 10 out of 10.
