Extremely friendly host, great room and facilities. Location was perfect for my needs. Nice that the room was not ‘above the pub’ but in a separate area. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and plan to stay again in a couple of weeks.

The springs in the mattress had most definitely sprung and were so uncomfortable that it was impossible to sleep. Also, the cost quoted on booking was £150 including vat but the inn actually charged £180. No reply to my email to your company regarding this discrepancy has yet been received

The breakfast and evening meals were good. The move to another room once the complaint was made.

We were looking forward to using the property as a stopover on our long journey to Wales. The reviews seemed to be positive particularly for the restaurant and newly decorated rooms. Prior to arrival we contacted the property to book a meal in the restaurant on the evening of our arrival. We were informed that the restaurant was closed on Sunday evenings but assured there were plenty of restaurants nearby. We accepted this thinking we would at least enjoy a cooked breakfast prior to our departure the next morning. On arrival we were informed that the restaurant would also be closed for breakfast but that we could be given a packed breakfast to take with us including a sausage / bacon sandwich. This would be left outside the door to our room. This was very disappointing since we had not been given prior warning of this for us to decide if we wanted to book elsewhere to be able to have a full cooked breakfast. We were shown to our accommodation - a flat attached to the rear of the property. The entrance was via a very unstable steep external wooden staircase. On entry to the flat, the musty, stale smell was very unpleasant. The bedding was ripped, the toilet was wobbly. Beside the toilet, the external window was frosted glazed from waist height downwards but above was clear glass with no blind or curtain for privacy. The accommodation was generally very tired and dated and despite opening all windows the musty smell remained. We were then visited by a member of staff providing us with our cooked sandwiches for the next morning which they thought we might like to keep in the fridge overnight. So not at all the hot sandwich we had planned to take on our journey. We went out to a nearby restaurant for an evening meal and our clothes still smelt of the musty accommodation. At this point we decided we could not stay at the property overnight and checked in to another hotel nearby.

finding fault seems petty if had to say one tiny thing the room door got a little stuck on entry but this was not a problem at all and tiny things like this are only to be expected in extremely old buildings. if anything it adds character!

this is gem of a discovery, period building, well converted, very clean and staff friendly. good road signage to hotel also. time I booked the price was very good.

Accommodation was very basic and the quality of the furniture and bed in the room was poor. Needs updating and more attention to the details that would make staying there a better experience e.g. better quality towels and tea/coffee provisions.

It was all good

Friendly staff and extremely helpful. One of our travelling party forgot a toothbrush and once we enquired as to the availability of obtaining a toothbrush. Within a few minutes one was duly supplied. Reasonable sized rooms with ample space for 2 adults. Excellant shower with great water presuure and nice and warm first thing in a morning. The highlight was our evening meal in the pub. Best mixed grill that I have ever had anywhere in the world and the servings were large. The other 2 members of our party had the lasagne and the huntsman pancake stuffed with cheese, mushrooms and bacon. Once again excellant large portions. None of us went hungry that night. Good selection of beers and ciders on tap. Being just after xmas still had a great atmosphere playing xmas songs and still xmas decorations hung up. Breakfast provided in the morning with the options of continental or a full english breakfast. Highly recommend a visit if only for the meals. Would definately stay again. Lovely quiet area in a single pub village added to the charm and our overall experience. Simon and Helen were excellant hosts who made all patrons feel very welcome including us.
