Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe amount of stairs for me was exhausting but we did have a beautiful sea view, perhaps could do with a chair on each level to rest at. The shower was very temperamental going cold then boiling hot, the water stopped completely and I had to get out turn it off completely and wait 10 minutes with soap in my hair until water started to come through in the sink then the shower this was unexceptionable.
The new Alexandra was central to everything, the hotel was fresh and clean in our room with a lovely sea view, plenty of tea and coffee lovely and quiet towels were lovely and fluffy. The staff were very friendly the breakfast was very tasty but a little on the dear side, the coffee was good in the restaurant. Dog friendly which was wonderful that we could bring our fur baby with us.

United KingdomTv channels were limited. Beds were a little stiff, personal opinion. I'm sure everyone has different comfort levels. Wasn't too affected by the bar, I initially thought there was a separate entrance to hotel. Although it didn't effect our stay.
Friendly staff, happy to give us extra plates and cutlery when needed. Lots of towels and blankets which was great!

United KingdomFirst impressions were not good. Up a flight of stairs to what was classed as reception, which looked like it was being used as a store room. The room was okay but walls could have done with a wash down or a paint, as could the bathroom. Shower kept running hot then cold. No live entertainment as advertised. Not sure if the seated area outside the front was both the sun terrace and the garden area, or where the leisure and tv room was? No hairdryer or iron, you have to request these, which is not explained until you read the information sheet in the room, they are happy to provide, if available. Staff drinking alocohol and smoking while wearing their branded t-shirts in seating area outside, and drinking in bar area, would advise if they have finished their shift to change their tops before drinking, and perhaps smoke at the rear of, or away, from the hotel. Lots of stairs, for someone with COPD, hip and back issues, this was hard, not the hotels fault. Having no lift could prove problematic for those with mobility issues, so just a heads up. Restaurant finished serving food at 6pm. Public areas untidy, with deliveries and linen bags intruding on walkways.
Location was very good, close to all amenities. Beech near by. Breakfast was good and reasonable price. Most staff were friendly, and offered help. Free wifi Nice touch with shower and shampoo provided, and as well as the standard tea and coffee bottled water was provided with biscuits. I was helped up with my suitcase to my room which was on the 3rd floor...so many stairs! Though when I arrived at 2:45, I was told I would have to wait as check in was 3pm, even though a family that were at the time waiting for their room, were told by the staff member it was ready for them now?

United Kingdom- room was located on 3rd floor and there was no lift. Considering we had a dog and a disabled child with us that was not very convenient. I did ask about this and understand the reasons why there is no lift; Victorian building requires a Victorian style lift - they have to stick with the character of the building and new equipment is not allowed. It is a massive investment of £80,000+. - no secure storage space to leave buggies/prams/wheelchairs - rooms are a bit dated, sliding windows could be opened all the way - even on the 3rd floor, which is a hazard in itself when travelling with children/pets. (Oh and a seagull nearly entered our room from the outside) - TV is on a 90 degree angle from the beds - not the best - room could do with a higher table (like a bistro set) instead of a very low square coffee table - shower cubicle/shower quite small; head-rail could not be positioned high enough for me (6ft1) - guests/staff were smoking outside on the seating area below our window - parking is a major issue; only allowed 90 mins before you have to pay. (between 9.00am and 6.30pm), especially with a Wheelchair Adapted Van which requires an extra 6ft for the ramp. (blue badge did come in handy though)
- location was excellent, about 100yds from the promenade and shops/atm/eateries were all nearby - room was larger than expected, with little furniture - bathroom was decent size and clean - clean towels and toiletries provided - very friendly staff - drinks bought from the bar were allowed to take back to room (we did not use the breakfast or dinner facilities)
