Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomNothing, it was perfect
We stayed in the Bartlett, which was small but perfect for our short stay. It was full of character and spotlessly clean with everything you could think of, Bluetooth speaker, wireless chargers, coffee making facilities and and a mini bar. It is decorated to an extremely high standard with a super comfy bed. The pear tree inn is a 2 minute walk from the Bull Freehouse where we were warmly greeted for both our evening meal and breakfast. It is ideally located for exploring some beautiful areas of Suffolk including Bury St Edmunds.

United KingdomWe visited bury st edmunds for a little getaway break. After some research found this place. Well what can I say. From booking to departure was great experience. The communication before arriving and check in was outstanding. The ease of check in, the room was stunning absolutely spotless and the facilities was great. The location is stunning and quiet. The hosts were amazing and the locals so friendly. The breakfast at the bull freehouse, which is a stones throw was lovely. Would highly, highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a nice quiet getaway but still 10 mins from the main town. Top notch

United KingdomThe big rain shower in our bathroom wasn't working, but this wasn't a big deal.
Everything exceeded our expectations. These guys clearly sweat the details. To start, we arrived very late in the evening, and they kept the kitchen open to cook us dinner. The pub is an absolute gem. A genuine country pub with locals playing darts, but decorated to a standard that Londoners would love. Food was amazing. Room was amazing. Attention to detail around every corner. Dyson hair dryer in the room. Artisinal locally made chocolates waiting for us. Mini bar full of artisinal locally crafted liquors. Wireless charging mats for our phones next to the bed. Artisinal locally made cheese with the continental breakfast (some of the best cheese I've ever tasted). Friendly staff who were happy to tell us the history of the pub. Absolute hidden gem that would probably cost 400 quid a night in London. Highly recommended!

United KingdomEvening meal was fine, but the back room was very cold, and really spoilt the occasion. Also I know you highlight not needing a reception etc, but believe it is important to have a point of contact if required, to speak to a person if need be, rather than relying on an I phone etc. Not everyone comfortable with this. Even if there was a comment that guests can come to the Bull pub should they require assistance, would have helped! Plus no signage of the property saying Pear Tree Inn. Took us a good 8 mins to locate the entrance etc. The unlocking of the door also took us a while! Only little things but it did take us 15 mins longer than it needed to. Meet and greet I believe is vital and needs looking at please.
Breakfast was good. Little more selection re continental breakfast could be an idea. Bread rolls , more toast and yoghurts to be easily accessible. Seemed a bit sparse.

United KingdomWas charged £35 for the dogs but on booking, com it states no extra charge for pets. I was happy to pay however as i would always expect a charge anyway and the place is really nice but i think the wording needs to change to say charges may apply as it is misleading.
Lovely place to stay and the attention to details is what makes this place 5 star. Very well run and great communication with all the information you need before you even get there. The suite itself was beautiful and cosy with a log fire. The breakfast was 10/10. Would high recommend.
