Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomBed was comfy, but a little noisy! Looked like a fold up!
Very clean and tidy. very bright room. We visited in the middle of a heatwave, but we were given a fan in the room and all windows opened to let in a very welcome breeze. Excellent full english breakfast and nice continental breakfast from the host as my partner is a vegetarian. Great value.

United KingdomNothing really. It was great.
Although situated in a fairly quiet town, it was perfect for seeing all sorts on the area - not too far from any of the beaches. There was a locals pub about two mins stroll from the Chantry (The Bull?) serving standard pub grub, but also lots of pubs nearby with a more gastro/fancy menu like The Manor, Carpenters etc and the Engine House for the day time. It was excellent value for money.

United KingdomThe only thing that would have made our stay better (which is beyond The Chantry's control) is you can only park out the front between 6pm and 9am.
The location was excellent. The room was airy, fresh and bright. The bed was comfortable with clean bedding.

United KingdomWe had no complaints at all. If we had to come up with something, it would be no immediate parking, but just a 300 yard walk along the road there’s free on road parking outside other residences. You can bring your car down to The Chantry House to load and unload too.
A fairly last minute booking so our expectations were small, but the owner was so friendly and helpful. He could not have done more for us. We were shown to a big bright room with a great en suite shower room. Breakfasts were delicious and brought to the room, served on a little table and chairs, full English with all the trimmings. Comfy sofa in room, tv etc, clean bedding and soft towels, powerful shower and our little dog made welcome too. Close enough to walk into town but fairly quiet location with just the odd passing car.

United KingdomNo downside
Beautiful Georgian house with a very accomodating host. We took our 2 small dogs and we were given a fabulous, very spacious room on the 2nd floor with dual aspect windows making it very comfortable in the heatwave. Also there was a large free standing fan for extra relief. The superking size bed was super comfy. It was a great stay at a very competitive rate and would highly recommend.

United KingdomThe Chantry is a non nonsense, clean, simple bed and breakfast. The room was large and airy. Tea & coffee facilities are provided in the room too. The separate private bathroom had an excellent large shower cubicle. Lindsey welcomes you with a smile and is respectful of your privacy. The location is only a 3 minutes walk from the heart of the village with a selection of places to buy food and eat. There are also friendly pubs nearby, I especially recommend the Bull’s Head for the beer and food. Callington is a good location to explore the area with its many sights and walks.
