Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThe bed needs a new mattress!
The dinner and breakfast were outstanding! The Woolpack was right along the Pilgrims Way, which we appreciated since we were walking to Canterbury. The town is just delightful, and we were sorry not to spend more time there. We loved the little patio out back, where we could enjoy the sun and a cool drink.

NetherlandsEverything was as expected, an old Inn and a lovely old village.
We wanted a sober breakfast and the lady that served us was very friendly and gave us toast and jam and tea and wanted nothing in return. That was very kind of her. Good parking spot and accessability. We slept well, everything was quiet.

Check in very easy. staff friendly, room clean and tidy. Stayed during the Queens Platinum Jubilee celebrations yet no problems parking or eating in the hotel/pub. The quality of the food was AMAZING, no honestly, it was brilliant, and reasonably priced. Located in a very nice, quaint, village, picturesque in fact. Hotel is centrally located for Canterbury, Herne Bay etc.

United KingdomSome of the dishes at dinner and breakfast could be improved - pancakes a little burnt and shepherds pie quite salty, and coffee at breakfast not great one of the days,, but the other meals we had were good. Drains in shower need a little bit of unblocking as draining slowly.
Overall good and comfortable. Very friendly and helpful staff Very peaceful at night with no traffic noise!

United KingdomThe bed was slightly hard, and the shower was only the tiniest bit grubby on the bottom but apart from that absolutely perfect.
The staff were amazing, welcoming and chatty. We really enjoyed their company and they bent over backwards to accommodate our needs. Would recommend this due to them alone!!! Food was amazing 👏

United KingdomThe en suite was very tiny with the toilet seat needing to be replaced, as it was stained with the plastic peeling off. All the silicon mastic was very untidy & dirty. The back of the door was very dusty and looked as if it hadn't been cleaned for ages!
The location and setting was terrific. A lovely bar and restaurant area, with the bedrooms located in a seperate building. Staff were exceptionally helpful and very pleasant. Good car parking area. Apart from one starter, [overcooked], dinner was lovely. However, we did not take breakfast, so cannot comment.

United KingdomBed was rock solid, bathroom absolutely tiny, noise proofing from upstairs and next door was pretty much non-existent, breakfast was disappointing with luke warm coffee and not enough space.
Lovely little village, had a fab dinner in the restaurant, room was cosy and clean. Staff were friendly but could do with some more training. Was VERY dog friendly (pretty much every other guest had a dog so worth being prepared for if allergic/not keen on doggos). Nice touches in the room like kettle and robes etc.

United KingdomNo electricity on arrival, which we were not informed about. The room was like an ice box and although the heating did come back on it then took a long while for the room to warm up. On using the en-suite, the toilet seat was broken and the shower door unable to close shut and leaking onto the bathroom floor. We were unable to shower for the whole visit. We told the staff and the tried to rectify it but on the next use the shower door fell off completely.
Lovely room just over the road from the main hotel. Access to a small courtyard garden if needed (winter so we didn’t use this space)

United KingdomOur rooms were not ready by the check-in time, and we had to wait for 40 minutes for them to be ready. Even after that, there was still a problem with the toilet in one of the rooms, so people staying there had to wait for a visit from a plumber before they could start enjoying the stay. Things like this do happen. However, when it happens, an apology and a smile would be an expected way to deal with it. Instead, I was told in an annoyed manner that they only had three cleaners and we will just have to wait. I could later understand why the cleaners could not manage: there was a lot of noise and laughter coming through the ceiling of our room, and then the three cleaners emerged . I am glad to know that Woolpack is a good employer, and their staff can take their time chatting while guests are waiting. I do understand the policy of having the card registered in case of damage, but normally it is done without handing it over to the staff. I asked if I can enter the details myself, but, as unsafe as it felt, I was told the only way we can continue with the check in was to give my card to the same unfriendly member of staff. The rooms (after the toilet situation has been resolved) were comfortable, although no chocolate was available despite this being part of the room description. We had no bathroom towels either as the laundry service did not deliver them. Again, all this can happen, and the housekeeper was apologetic. I would still recommend this place for a stay as I choose to believe that normally they run it much more smoothly.
I booked two rooms and an evening meal for four. Staff, apart from one member, were friendly and helpful. The meal was lovely, and the service was really efficient and friendly, although one of the specials (Parma ham wrapped cod) was too dry and salty.

CanadaStaff pretty so-so Customer service, abysmal. The owners and their family tenants were out of town. The fire alarm went off at 11pm one night when we were asleep and guests were left to figure out what was happening, no staff on duty and no telephone in the room. In the morning, no explanation or apology, just one snarky employee who simply said, "that's in the past, get over it"
Breakfast was excellent. The Woolpack pub is great. Chilham is a lovely village and well worth the visit. The surrounding countryside is lovely
