Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GeorgiaThe best people work here. Kurosh treated us with drinks and had a nice talk. In the morning Greek-American lady also met us with warm smile. I definately recommend to everyone. Location is nice too. Close to less touristic restaurants and 6-8 eur by taxi to old city center.

United StatesMost transportation needed Uber. Not really unusual, so really not an issue
Staff was very helpful. Local knowledge about dining a d transportation was very appreciated. A local wedding party that they had no control over made noise, the owner apologized anyway with a complimentary bottle of wine!

AustraliaA fabulous location in a slightly alternative gritty part of Athens (gritty in a creative sense). The hotel is deeply embedded in the community. You don’t feel so much like a tourist yet all the touristy things are so close by.

Alter Athens exceeded our expectations. A lovely little hotel with really nice rooms. The staff were absolutely fabulous. There were nice restaurants etc in the neighborhood or a 30 mins walk to city centre or 5 mins (and about 6 euros) in a cab.

AustraliaWe recently had the pleasure of staying at Alter Athens, and it was truly an exceptional experience. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Fotis and all staff hospitality continued throughout our stay. A special mention goes to Fotis, who went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. His genuine kindness and attention to detail made us feel right at home. Fotis, thank you for your warm wishes and for the wonderful coffee— we look forward to sharing another one with you during our next visit! We highly recommend Alter Athens to anyone visiting this vibrant city. We can't wait to return! -Dessa and Diego

United KingdomI recently had the pleasure of staying at the Alter Athens hotel, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm smiles and genuine hospitality that made me feel right at home. The staff at Alter Athens truly go above and beyond to ensure their guests have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. They are incredibly caring and attentive, always ready to assist with any request, no matter how big or small. Whether it was providing local recommendations, arranging transportation, or simply checking in to see if I needed anything, their generosity and dedication were evident in every interaction. The rooms are impeccably clean and well-appointed, offering a perfect blend of comfort and style. The hotel’s location is also ideal, with easy access to many of Athens’ top attractions. However, it is the exceptional service and the warm, welcoming atmosphere created by the staff that truly sets Alter Athens apart. I highly recommend Alter Athens to anyone visiting the city. The caring and generous nature of the staff will make your stay an absolute delight.

IrelandNothing. This hotel provided all we required and each evening we felt like we were coming home to be greeted by friends.
We stayed her twice, going and returning from a holiday in the Cyclades islands. We arrived at Alter at the beginning of June and again at the end of June. I loved the decor in this hotel which I would call alternative industrial. We stayed in a different room on each occasion. Both rooms were comfortable and had all that we required. Tea and coffee facilities' safe box and air conditioning were available. The housekeeping was excellent. One of the rooms had a lovely view of Lycabettus hill which we managed to visit afterwards. The hotel is located in a vibrant area mainly populated by Athenians. There are plenty of restaurants nearby and even an outdoor cinema, the Riviera. It's a great area for people watching. It's about 20 minutes walk from the centre depending on how distracted you get. The most enduring memory we will have of Alter hotel is the friendliness and helpfulness of both the staff and the hotel owner. We arrived for our first visit off a flight at 3am and on our second visit at 6am. Nothing seems to disturb these people. The welcome was warm and they seemed genuinely interested in their guests. You never arrived or left the hotel without being greeted and asked how you were going to spend your day or evening. Recommendations were made for dining or sightseeing. They were also happy to assist with practicalities like transfers. We had some great conversations. Thank you Aris and Billy, and all the others whose names I have forgotten, for all your kindness.

BelgiumBeautiful little hotel with very nice host, offering you a welcome drink and providing important information on transport and local places. Very near one of my favourite Athens restaurants; Amei Lachy. It is just in a "normal" Athens neighbourhood, local bars, cafés, shops and still 25 min walking distance from the historic centre maximum. On the other hand the Lykavettos Hill is easily accessible from there.

We were extremely satisfied with our stay at Alter Athens! We can confidently say that this has become one of our favorite hotels, and from now on, we will always stay there whenever we are in Athens! The wonderful attitude of Aristo and his team was one of the things that impressed us the most! They are lovely and kind people who know how to make their guests feel comfortable and well-taken care of. We are really grateful to them! The hotel itself is also wonderful; the rooms are clean, well-maintained, and nice furnished. Our bed was super comfortable! A big plus was the parking space in front of the hotel, where we could leave our car, for which we thank Aristo once again! The location of the hotel is very good, practically in the center, but in a part that is not overcrowded and is quiet. We can't wait to come back!

United KingdomNothing. All well within expectations.
A nicely appointed cozy hotel in a vibrant part of Athens. First-time visitor to the city, the staff were friendly, helpful and good communicators via the app. I was happy with all aspects of the hotel: comfort, cleanliness, customer service, amenities. To achieve a peaceful sleep in Athens centre was equally impressive. The neighbourhood had attractive bars, cafes and parks. I would gladly stay again.
