Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing.
Amazing renovated property, exactly how portrayed in the photos, only better! So gorgeous we decided to change plans and stay for 2 nights. Had to change rooms and were given the top suite. Both rooms were fantastic, with each having their individual qualities. Even the linen on the very comfortable beds was top quality. Despina, the owner was so friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful.

AustraliaNothing.
We were very kindly upgraded from a double room to a suite at no charge. The room was spacious and beautifully renovated, with the bedroom upstairs having lovely views. Ardamis is very close to the main gate so you do not have to carry your bags too far. It is also just below the area with restaurants and shops. Monemvasia was stunning.

United KingdomIn one of the historical homes of Monemvasia, with all historical features still present and carefully restored. The room we had was essentially a suite - we had one area for the bed and a separate sitting area with armchairs and a TV (and a whole Christmas tree for ourselves!). We arrived during extremely unfavourable weather (torrential rain and wind) and were welcomed most warmly by the owners.

United StatesGreat location, it’s very close to the entrance to Monemvasia, which was very helpful for moving our luggage around, and it’s also right next to the main street of shops and restaurants. Our suite was also right against the ocean, which was cool. The room was very spacious and comfortable with a unique design and history. Finally, the staff were super friendly and made us feel so welcomed!

United KingdomIt was a privilege to stay within the walls of Monemvasia and to be welcomed into a beautifully cared for residence. The location is stunning - views over the sea and wanderings through the town's narrow lanes from the very door. There's no breakfast on offer, but plenty of good options within a very short distance.

AustraliaBeautiful historical surroundings peaceful with lovely restaurants souvenir shops and gorgeous cats. A safe beach near although no sand. A porter was available to help carry bags to hotel from the front of the castle entrance which wasn’t too far and lovely trusting very helpful owners .

AustraliaUnclear how to navigate transporting our heavy suitcases to the hotel, as signs very small. We were unaware they had a porter service. Driver can only drop you off to the original gates of old Monemvasia. Precarious for family to move suitcases down steep and slippery rocky steps. I would recommend having very light luggage. Hotel owner organized a porter for our departure which was truly easy and much appreciated. Bedrooms are on 2 separate mezzanine levels with steep steps with downstairs bathroom. Would still return, so overall small negatives.
Traditional cave house within the walls of this magnificent ancient city. Beautiful step back in time decor. Location very central to main street shops which are a 5 minute walk and very close to the best restaurant Matoulas. Hotel owner Despina was wonderful.

United KingdomWe thought the colour changing lights made it look cheap rather than character, especially on ceiling walls, the other lighting was lovely, i didnt like that 2 people sat outside our bedroom door on table and chairs right against our door window and we could hear them talking
Amazing history everywhere, very big accommodation on many levels, comfortable bed, not suitable for infirm or older people who are unsteady with walking or climbing

AustraliaThe shower! We couldn’t work out how to use it. On leaving we were asked if we wanted a porter to carry our bags. We carried them ourselves on the way in. So we said sure, as it was a tough 100m with two 20kg bags. The porter then asked us for money on dropping the bags. It was awkward. We would have carried them again had we known. We thought it was part of the service.
The location was magical. The balcony our fav part. The view! We were sad to only have one night. Our host was very attentive.

SwitzerlandThese are small issues but when first arriving the signage from the main street wasn't very apparent. As mentioned, there were stairs in the room, but if you have mobility issues then please be aware that Monemvasia itself if not easy to walk around, with narrow cobbled streets and many steep inclines.
Our one-night stopover in Monemvasia was made exceptional by staying at this wonderful hotel. Run by the owners, originally built circa 1200s and fully renovated, it really is a very comfortable and quiet place to experience this historic location. It is only a few hundred metres from the entrance/town drop-off location, and we were lucky enough to score a car park along the road (it can get busy there so grab one if you can!). It is also very near to the access to the water, and we enjoyed a wonderful swim. The room itself is well fitted out. Our room was on several levels, and with the design of the building this meant som steep stairs within the room that needed care to navigate, but this was more of a feature for us rather than a negative. Our host was very friendly and they have a fantastic balcony to enjoy the sunset.

GreeceI have two remarks, not the establishment itself, but for the whole Monemvasia area. In summer, due to thermal capacity of the stone buildings, the place is HOT! Inside the room is fully air-conditioned, but outside is an oven. Second, the parking is a nightmare, so expect to walk over 500m (under the blazing sun) or take the bus to the municipal parking lot.
This is one of the best places to stay in Monemvasia to get the feeling of how it is to "live" in an area inhabited in 6th century AD, while the castle was built around 10th/11th century AD. Expect arc stone two level structure converted to a 'hotel" room! Bonus, the magnificent terrace and view!
