Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

The under bed storage was a little tricky to use and could have benefitted from a draw or sliding mechanism.
The beds were so comfy and everything inside was super modern and felt like I was staying in a hotel. The staff were fantastic and the hostel was very easy to get to from the train station.

No elevator (I was on level 1 so no issue but some might not like this).
Location was great (500m from the Acropolis). Staff were friendly and walked me to my room. Bathroom was big and had a lot of cubicles to use. The under bed lockers were big and high enough to fit my bag in. Air con was cold.

The lockers are noisy, it’s hard not to wake up your roommates. The beds are metal and your every move is noisy as well.
It was clean, nice rooftop terrace. Good breakfast. Curtains for every bed.

There isn't really anything to complain about. I was a bit surprised when I noticed that the bathrooms and showers were mixed too but it wasn't an actual problem.
The place is really great. The beds were comfy and the curtains gave some privacy. The beds were like small rooms. The hostel was pretty clean and the communal areas were nice. The people and staff were really nice. The location is good too. Close to a metro station and a lot of famous sights.

The underbed metal lockers were very noisy whenever they were opened or closed.
Great location (only a few minutes walk to the nearest Metro). A lot of bars and restaurants nearby. Room and shared bathroom were super clean.

Loved my stay! The staff were very friendly and helpful, the place was clean and comfortable. Towels, locks and shower gels were easily available. Great location close to a metro station and Monastiraki Square. One of the best hostels I have stayed in!

Very friendly staff, excellent facilities, and brilliant food. Really great addition of the nightly events and group chat for patrons to discuss the events, and things to do in Athens. It’s tamer and quieter / less party focused than some hostels are advertised to be, and for me that was perfect. Location is also ideal for most activities, easy walking distance to everything.

This was not a big issue, but there were 2 liquid soap dispensers for all the showers. I was always able to get one because people shower at different times, but it would be better if each shower had a soap dispenser. Also, in the sink area, it would have been nice to have paper towels, instead of having to grab toilet paper to dry your hands or carry your towel with you.
The staff were really nice. They gave good recommendations of places to go and the order of which places to see. Also, when I returned to Athens another day, outside of the days I stayed at the hostel, they allowed me to leave my suitcases there. Dimitri even let me use the microwave to heat up take out food, gave me a plate and utensils, and gave me bread and prepared a salad for me! Lila looked up the train schedule to get to the airport. Everyone was very helpful! Additionally, I loved the privacy curtains and outlets at every bed. The curtain offered privacy and blocked off the light if someone came in later.

There is no elevator, so it might not be accessible to everyone.
The location is perfect! Right next to the metro station and the Acropolis. The facilities are excellent and clean. Rooms are equipped with AC, bunker beds are comfy, and you have privacy due to the box-like format of the beds. Lockers are big. Bathrooms are shared but spacious, private, and impeccably clean. You receive a welcome drink when you check in and they have this little convenience shop in the cafe/bar area. The best hostel I stayed in Athens!

it was quite noisy with the bar downstairs - bring earplugs
we were only there for one night to catch a connecting flight however the room and facilities were just what we needed. receptionist was very welcoming and gave us heaps of information. would go back if we had longer time in Athens
