What an incredible pension! Easy contactless check in, wonderful property, and in an unbeatable location. You can walk to the ruin entrance but it’s much more convenient to do the 2 minute drive. The host was very welcoming and helpful, and provided a delicious breakfast. You’re walking distance to the only restaurant in town which is very handy.

Travelling late October a delightful quiet stay. Village location and close to Ancient Messene site. Owner’s prepared breakfast was great.

Didn’t know the room was on 2nd floor and had to go up stairs. Walking with a cane and going up the stairs were too much for me. When we checked in. We were not told that the breakfast would be five euros each. If we had been told we would not have eaten there.

Everything was perfect.

I would come back for the breakfast alone: a superb spread of Greek traditions and local products and specialties. Served on a cute patio by kind people. Decoration of rooms very nice, deserves 5 stars.

I would have given a 10 instead of 9 if there was a screen to control mosquitoes and flies. But there was a bug fogger- just not crazy about using it

Loved the location, Ancient Massini is a beautiful Villiage in the mountain. We were opposite the Ancient Messene.The Taverna in walking distance was fantastic

Hotel Messana is comfortable, convenient and reasonably priced. We enjoyed our stay and it was nice to see the ruins of ancient Messene from our Juliet balcony in room number 3. The room had a nice hot shower, a mini fridge and air conditioning. There was parking available on the street. We could also walk to lunch/ dinner at Il Thomi taverna with its lovely terrace overlooking the ruins. The owner was very kind and helpful. We loved visiting ancient Messene and spending the night is the best option rather than just a day trip. Thankfully, Hotel Messana provided a welcome respite after a great day of exploring the ruins.

The only thing we would have liked was an insect screen or gauze curtain so we could have slept with the doors open. There is a beautiful cool breeze in the evenings and it would be nice to enjoy this in summer. But the room is air conditioned and I wouldn’t let this put you off. It’s a wonderful place to stay.

We loved our stay at the Messana and were sad not to spend longer there. Maria is a delightful host and her breakfast!! Wonderful! Stylish and a little bit quirky, this is a special property in a very beautiful part of the world. It overlooks the ancient site and there is a fabulous taverna a 2 minute walk away.

Our host was not present during check-in and only provided instructions via message, despite our efforts to arrive before 8 PM as requested. This was disappointing because we believe the first contact is very important. Our room, number 6, had a balcony overlooking the backyard with no view of the archaeological site. The air conditioning was weak, making the room quite hot at night. I couldn't open the window due to a noisy AC extractor in the backyard. I had a poor night's sleep.

Even though breakfast was not included, we chose to have it and it was nice. The hotel's location is very close to the archaeological site. This was convenient for us. The hotel appears well-maintained, and the room is spacious.

No kettle so no coffee or tea making facilities in the room but great hospitality.

Well located to visit ancient Messini. We didn't have breakfast as not many gluten free options. Nice bathroom and good sized room with balcony.

This charming hotel is very clean and comfortable with beautiful views over ancient Messini from the balcony. We had a lovely welcome from friendly staff and the breakfast was delicious and made from local produce. Wish we stayed for more than one night. Definitely one to come back to a very special place.
