Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

PolandThey charge extra for leaving the bag in storage and sitting on the terrace after checking out, which is almost the price of one night in 6 ppl-dorm.

United KingdomYou can't use the kitchen in the morning because they want to sell you their breakfast They make you pay for your stored luggage after you've checked out The one social area is essentially a restaurant so isn't a great place to relax Only a small locker in the room for your valuables
Kitchen is well stocked and has a massive fridge for all your food Very clean and modern hostel Rooms are comfy and there's AC Lovely view of the lake from the rooms Much cheaper than the alternatives in Flores

NetherlandsThe price of the room (private) is high for what you get. We've stayed in many other hostels in Guatemala for similar or lower prices but with significantly better accommodations and more spacious rooms. The room here was only 12m2 which meant there was barely enough room for our luggage. Secondly, the showers and bathroom were extremely tight and directly overlooking the bar that was also visited by non guests. Thirdly, since the owners were out (I guess also unlucky timing) there was no breakfast and no coffee available. In short, not what we were expecting from a 8.8 rated stay of 40€/n.
The view from the terrace is nice and we booked a private room with air conditioning. The air conditioning worked well and helped alot as it was relatively warm.

United KingdomThe money grabbing. Yes it is clearly explained when you check in, but it's still money grabbing. For example, if you want to wait around you must pay $7, which is nearly what a bed costs. No other hostels I've stayed at in the past year of travelling do this. They state it pays for WIFi and kitchen costs, but again, this isn't the done thing anywhere else. Storing bags costs an addition $4 per bag, which requires zero effort from the hostel. No alcohol allowed. There is a mediocre bar upstairs which charges $20 for a bottle of beer. When the supermarket charges $6. The bar has no life and soul, so people just go elsewhere and spend the same money. The kitchen is closed until 12 o clock for breakfast, but hardly anyone eats there due to the expense. A fruit bowl is $6, you could make the same at 12 o clock for $1-2. This whole money grabbing vibe just makes the hostel feel unhomely and empty of life, whilst making the guests feel like products or better yet, cash cows. The reception staff obviously feel guilty about it and try their best. It's the boss who is to blame. You van get away with stuff like this I bigger hostels, like Los Amigos, but smaller hostels like these need to know their audience.
Very clean room. Reception staff were very friendly. Kitchen was okay. Terrace was nice.

SpainThe property does not accept credit cards and this is NOT indicated anywhere in the booking page. This implies to withdraw money from an ATM with a flat cost if 7 USD, so the real price in the web is NOT true, it is more expensive than its price indicates. It is embarrassing in the XXI century to do mot accept credit card payments. They also claim to have express check in and the staff does not even know what it is. I arrived in a hurry just wanting to leave my luggage and go somewhere else and despite I indicated this the receptionist forced me to read some rules and to explain all aspects of the hotel, despite I told him several times that he could do this later on when I come back to pay in cash for the room and complete the checking. Not a place for me to come back unless they start accepting credit cards and train better the stuff which was not helpful at all.

CanadaBunk beds are not high enough to sit on them without hitting your head on top. There are no lockers. The A/C is only for the night. The bed fan is filthy so unsure you want to use it. There’s no area to have some quiet time. The only common area is on the terrace where the loud music is on. No possibility to use the kitchen for breakfast. The dorm is right beside the terrace so it makes it quite noisy. Once you realize all this, impossible to get reimbursed for the second night even though you just paid couple hours ago. Really feels like nobody cares except for your money. Very disappointing!

United KingdomThe toilet bins were constantly overflowing and there is a rule around noone in the kitchen before 12.30pm - bit cheeky to advertise having a kitchen when you can't get in there to make breakfast
Hostel was nice and had a great view of the river. Good location super close to main spots.

HungaryThe lockers in the dorm are really small, not suitable for a laptop or tablet. It was way to cold at night in the room. There were only one sinks in the common bathroom and in the mornings it was really crowded.
The dorm is really spacious with comfy beds. There were plugs, a fan and small lockers at each bed. The terrace has incredible views to the lake. The staff is very nice.

NetherlandsThe guy behind the reception tried to charge us more than the communicated prices for the Tikal tour and seemed a bit rude. The girl was really nice and helpful. Some of our clothes that we hung out to dry went missing. It was a bit confusing if we could make our own breakfast or not. We knew the kitchen would be closed in the mornings but our first day the hostel didn’t make breakfast and other guests were making their own, so we ate outside the hostel and brought our own for the following day, but then the kitchen was closed and we could only order. Could have been better communicated.
Great location, view is amazing. it’s nicely decorated. Liked the atmosphere and when we were here there were quite some people chilling on the terrace, which is nice for meeting new people.

GermanyWorst. Hostel. Ever. It started out okay - until my friend and I got back late from our visit to Tikal. Someone else's things were on our beds. The hostel admitted that they had made a mistake and double booked our beds - and KICKED US OUT. We were speechless. We had already paid for the night and they had just put all our things somewhere and told us to leave. We couldn't believe it. We even asked if they had another room because we were so tired and they said the private room was available - wouldn't go down with the price though. I repeat, they had made a mistake. And then kicked us out. I'm still speechless. The manager himself decided so. Do not go here. I've never come across ruder people and worse customer service. Also, the bathroom has only one small sink, the rooms are crazy hot and moldy and wet and it generally really wasn't a great place to stay at.

IsraelOur room was right under the rooftop, and we could hear EVERY sound from there, it was HORRIBLE. We took a room with a lake view, there wasn't much of a view from the room.
Well located, helpful staff - recommended us the best restaurant we ate in Guatemala. Big room and shower.

ItalyThe kitchen is closed from 7am to 11:30am leaving you no other choice than buying their breakfast (30Q) or eating outside. Moreover, during my stay we had issues finding forks and spoons, it seems like they were all gone. The bedsheets smelled weird and there is only one toilet upstairs. Personally, for that price I would have expected more.
The location is very nice, with lake view. You can organize all your trips at the reception.

United KingdomThey advertise aircon, but it doesn’t work, nor do the fans, staff are extremely unhelpful just say “nothing I can do” It’s unbearably hot in the rooms so impossible to sleep. I was told to “go up onto the terrace then if you’re too hot” at 3am when I went to ask if they could get a working fan.
it has a good location (although anywhere on the island is a good location because it’s so small)

AustraliaI got recommended this hostel but wish I didn’t stay. I got a private room and all I could hear was chairs scrapping on the terrace from 5am- 11pm. The staff were constantly running up the stairs and were very loud. I would stay in a hotel for cheaper price.

United StatesI have never had a hostal charge to hold a bag for a couple of hours after check-out. The inability to use the kitchen until 12:30 each day was frustrating, not to mention they lock up nearly all utensils, leaving a few rickety pans with handles about to fall off and plastic forks in addition to a few cups, cutting boards, and dull knives. There were no basics like oil or salt. It just feels like they care more about making a dime than creating an inviting experience for guests. So much potential here, but it’s not the most welcoming, travel-friendly environment. Some of the staff was quite friendly, others not so much.
There really is no such thing as a poor location on the island so it does have that going for it. Additionally, the terrace view is beautiful, and the wifi is pretty decent. AC/fans work well.
