Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Loved the location on the water with the hills and the bush behind. A short walk along the lakeside path takes you to a variety of restaurants, cafes and bars. The Lake Atitlan boat taxi dock is just a 5 minute walk along that path. You can also walk up to Santa Cruz village for the exercise and views. The CEPAP building is in the village and sells beautiful local textile crafts and serves delicious meals, snacks and coffee. The Santo Cruz village market is on Saturdays if you need some produce and you can buy local avocados from local vendors daily. From Los Elementos you can access a trail that takes you up and down to a neighbouring village Jailbalito. A great walk and a lovely, quieter, less touristy spot on Lake Atitlan. Visit Bistro Indigo if you walk to Jailbalito! While at Los Element of be sure to go out on SUP or kayak in the mornings before the wind comes up. We did 2 tours with Los Elementos, the cooking class and the Upper Mayan Trail. Both amazing experiences. Be sure to get your mountain legs on before attempting the Upper Mayan Trail LOL. At Los Elementos you can create a vacation that combines relaxation with physical activity and challenge along with local cultural experiences.

CanadaEverything was good
We loved the lakefront location and the easily accessible activities: SUP, kayaks, walking and hiking. A wide variety of great restaurants are a short walk away as is the water taxi dock. A healthy walk up to the village Santa Cruz is just 5 or 10 minutes further. Los Elementos makes a great home base for exploring the other villages of Lake Atitlan. The knowledgeable and experienced hosts can set you with a variety of experiences both cultural and physical. The Mayan cooking class is not to be missed nor the Upper Mayan Hike which includes a visit to the Solola Market and the Mayan Caves. Both activities were highlights of our stay. Los Elementos offers a unique vacation experience

BelgiumIt is nice being pet-friendly, but it comes with a stitch… The dogs were barking all night which really impacted our rest. Also the open kitchen plus 2 cats & 6 dogs combination did not allow for perfect hygiene.
It has a superb location. The hosts are great. The facilities are above average. It has a very nice relaxing atmosphere.

United StatesThe only think I will fix is the level of privacy in the bathroom. And maybe the noise that the plastic protector on the roof makes. But it’s not a big deal though.
Lee and Elaine’s place is a paradise. That have beautiful views on both sides, mountain and lake side. They have cozy full equipped houses, we stayed in the cabin that faces the lake and it was wonderful. We enjoyed every minute. They also rent kayaks and that it’s also fun to do in the beautiful lake Atitlan. They are very nice and helpful . Very nice place to stay. I definitely want to return.

United StatesWe didn't quite realize how remote this place was, which was great for having a quieter, nature-focused retreat, but we weren't very prepared to make plans ahead of time for buying groceries or making dinner reservations since the town only has a few dinner options and other towns are only accessible by water taxis before 5:30pm.
Beautiful property, a lot of outdoor spaces to relax, and convenient outdoor kitchen to store food and cook. Elaine and Lee were very kind and their pups were fun to hang out with! We loved being close to the water and having easy access to a hiking trail that lead us right to San Marcos!

United StatesIt kind of sucked that the lanchas end the day so early so you need to make sure you are back on time but nothing that had to do with the property.
Lee and his wife were so welcoming and caring! It was really nice that each house comes with their own little kitchen. The views were incredible, I loved starting my day drinking a cup of coffee with the lake views as well as ending my days like that! The location was great because the property has access to the town and it’s only a few minutes walk with a few restaurants options.

United StatesThe only issue I had was with my allergies. I'm sensitive to dust, mold, and pet allergens and my allergies really acted up when in the room. The hot water is also solar heated, which was ok but not great.
The views were spectacular! The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. It was easy to get to and within walking distance to the main dock which also contained several restaurants and small conscience stalls.

GuatemalaYou must be an animal lover as there are about 4 dogs and 4 cats. They are very peaceful but might bark early morning once in a while.
Location is great, on the best side of the lake. It is next to a restaurant for easy meals and there is a basic kitchen to prepare food. It is right next to a trail fo some good hiking. Kayaks ans SUPs for rent!
