Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Parking. It was difficult to get the car down the narrow road.
It was a short walk to the lake, resturants, and shops.

No fan and there were no screens on the windows, so we had to close them for bugs, but it wasn't too hot, so it wasn't a problem.
Nice garden, comfortable room. Away from the noise of the main street but a short walk from the bus station. Goid price. No complaints!

Freezing cold shower despite being advertised as having hot water. Room and bathroom were really run down and outdated- cracks everywhere etc. We found it very noisy on our first night with dogs barking.
Friendly staff and lovely courtyard setting. Handy location just off the top of the main street. Bed was really comfortable, towels provided. Everything was very clean.

Unfortunately the local cockerels start crowing at 1am and continue until dawn, interspersed by barking dogs so don't expect a quiet night!
Clean, comfortable with a good shower and excellent WiFi, this was excellent value for money.

hotter water in the shower would have been nice
tucked away off the street in a quiet neighborhood area that felt safe. Cheap room with all the necessary amenities. It’s no resort but after bouncing around hostels it made for a great place to catch up on sleep

It wasn't very centrally located. The room was felt cramped and the bed wasn't so comfortable.

No bedside lights or tables. Electric wires everywhere, even in the shower, but was not dangerous! Room needs repainting and bathroom updating.
The location away from the main road and noise but in easy walking distance from town centre and lake. Very friendly owners. Basic room but very comfortable bed. Table and chairs on patio just outside each room.

The knob of room #9 doesn't work properly. It is tricky to open and close.
As pov from a local (Guatemalan) this is mostly a good place talking about location and what you get for the amount you are paying. A great place to get some rest after visited Lake area.

Booked this room specifically for a TV with the World Cup on early in the morning and to have netflix after a long day travelling. When I tried to connect an hdmi, I needed a password for this function and the netflix. The host could not provide for me.
The room was good for an overnight stay to break up our travels.

Great value. Clean, quiet at night (off the main road), friendly staff, safe & secure, simple and basic and centrally located for a one night stay to catch a 5am shuttle the next morning. Good wifi. Access to purified drinking water to refill water bottles. They allowed us to check in early so we were able to go explore the town.
