Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NetherlandsJulio and his wife are the nicest people ever! They were so sweet and welcoming. They also helped us with bookings for Tikal and Yaxha. We had room with a beautiful view of the lake. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

ArgentinaLesbia and Julio are very warm and welcoming hosts. They made me feel like at home, we had nice conversations and it was a great pleasure to stay with them for some days. My room was huge with a big balcony directly above the water - very cool! The location is not in the Flores Island but in San Miguel - so if you search for a calmer non touristic area that's your choice! From Flores it is easy to arrive with a small boat in about 5 mins. Also recommended to book the tour to Tikal etc. and transports with them, they offer for a good price. And it is helpful to know some Spanish as their English is limited (but Julio is learning!) 😊 muchas gracias 🥰

GermanyIt's really thinwalled, so bring earplugs 🙃
Beautiful occasion, water was high so I went for a dip straight from the veranda, easy to reach by boat, more relaxed vibes than crowded flores, Lesbia and her husband are so friendly and helpful ♥️🙏 Our bus was late, made us arrive at 11:30 pm and they helped us to find a boat and pick us from the lake.

NetherlandsWhen i arrived by shuttle from languin, just before we arrived in Flores,a very intens salesperson from Getaway travel came in the bus. She told me that this beautiful homestay is very very far and i wouldn’t be able to do any early tours because there wouldn’t be boats. Also she was pushing everybody in the bus to buy tickets for sunrisr Tikal now (!) otherwise it would be full. All of the above is not true at all! Just a very intense salesperson. Don’t by it please. The posada is not on the island itself, just a Q10 5 mins boatride away by collectivo lancha (make sure you get the collectivo and not a privat for Q25 pp)
The owners of this very nice and clean posada will give you the warmest welcome, they have a colourfull garden (with somesurprises!) en house and you stay directly at the water. You will have a little balcony, as well as a kitchen and free filtered water. The room itself can be a bit noisy with sounds of neighbours. If this one is full, you can ask to stay at the posada of their familiy, also amazing, lakeview, clean and quiet! 2 mins walking. Make sure you take the collectivo to ; Restaurante Ve amar! 2 mins walk from there.

FrancePosada Don Julio is a fantastic place to stay, offering breathtaking views of the lake. The house is practically on the water, creating a serene and unique atmosphere. The family running the posada is incredibly welcoming and helpful, making the experience even more enjoyable. It’s important to note that the house is not located in Flores itself but on the opposite side of the lake. To get there, you’ll need to take a small local boat that runs every five minutes for just 10Q. This adds an extra touch of charm and adventure to your stay. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. While the WiFi is typical for Guatemala—not very strong—it’s enough for basic needs around 5-6 Mbps Overall, it’s a wonderful experience for those looking to immerse themselves in the tranquility of the lake and the warmth of local hospitality. Highly recommended!

United KingdomThe room itself is very basic but a decent size.. the photos are accurate. There was no warm water which wasn’t too much of a problem in the heat but might be an issue depending on when you travel. Also worth noting that to get to the house you have to cross a make-shift path of crates due to the flooding - just to be aware depending on the luggage you bring.
The family hosts were the absolute highlight of the stay! They went out of their way to help me organise tours and transport, did some laundry at no cost and were very patient with my terrible Spanish! The location in San Miguel is great and less touristy - I had no issues catching the boats when needed (but be aware of the additional costs at 10Q each trip and 20-30 for other stops, not easy to just drop things off after tours and get some food etc.)

Everything ! We had a very nice welcome by the owner Lesbia who was super sweet and helpful. The room was really clean and comfortable, there was two fans for the warm nights, and super view of the island of Flores from our balcony. 1 min walk away from the lanchas to get to Flores island and from the Veamar restaurant which is on the side of the lake. They offered to do our laundry, they had drinking water available, and a super cute cat:)

IndiaPersonally I would have preferred staying on Flores island. It's true San Miguel is just a boat ride away but it created a mental barrier, there's pressure to get back earlier. While I arrived in Flores on day 1 the boat guys on the pier demanded 50 quetzal, language was an issue and they were indifferent to hostile. I called up Julio and he kindly stepped in to help me by sending a private boat to pick me up for 20Q. I used a private boat similarly when I left for Flores on the return. San Miguel is quiet and I believe there is nothing much to do there beyond a few hours to half a day. I used a public boat once on day 2 morning and it cost 10Q. The kitchen is clean, it would greatly help it a few essential items were stocked to help with cooking, mineral water from dispenser will also be greatly appreciated🙏
Lovely hosts Julio and Lesbia. The place is big, there is kitchen that one can use for cooking. It's on the lake, two minutes from San Miguel boat pier. All in all its great for one days stay at a very reasonable price. Through out I felt completely safe as a, solo female traveller

The room had the best view. Lesbia was a fantastic host and sorted out our tickets. On arrival, we were concerned that we were across the lake, but we whatsapp to Lesbia, and she sent a boat to collect us. Its easy to get across. The local restaurant was great home cooked food and really cheap.. The room was huge with 2 double beds and really clean. The access to a kitchen was a bonus which was also spotlessly clean.

United KingdomLeaving!
From the moment we arrived, we felt like we'd been there for a long time. Lesbia was so welcoming and even allowed us to hang out before check-in time. This is the perfect place to relax in nature close to Isla de Flores. The accommodation has everything you need so it's very comfortable. It's the kind of place you could stay for a long time waking up every day to watch the sunrise from bed with the sounds of the birds and the howler monkeys. And it's only 10 queztales to get across to the Isla if you wanted to. Thanks for everything Lesbia!

GuatemalaWe loved to stay at "Posada Don Julio". The couple who owned it was so nice and friendly. Our room was clean, big and we loved to chill at our balkony right at the waterside. It feels like living in a boathouse. We heard our neighbours from above walking, which didn't disturbed us at all. The view is amazing and you can even see the sunrise in the morning as well. It was always easy to go by boat to Flores. Even when we had to be there early for our trip to Tikal "Julio" the Host ordered a boat for us. There is a well equiped outdoor kitchen, fridge and some nice chairs to chillout in the backyard. Everything is very clean. We would always come back to this cozy, sweet place.
