Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Philippines(1) The staff were pleasant but could be even more courteous and more friendly as compared to other top hotels. (2) The location was good but had limited food options within walking distance to the hotel (you only had starbucks within 5 min walking distance. Of course this is beyond control of Shangri La but I want to just mention this. Drydocks restaurant does help a bit in this aspect but it could be nice to have more options for food.
(1) Overall facility and location overlooking Hong Kong bay was very good. (2) Hotel Building and facility ambiance was very well and well maintained. (3) The breakfast experience was very nice and a fantastic view overlooking HK Bay.

United KingdomApart from the check-in receptionist the rest of the staff were pretty unapproachable. Sometimes it wasn't exactly clear who was a staff member. The ones who did actually speak instead of just pointing us on to somewhere else usually completely ignored me and spoke only to my husband. Not good for a supposed 5 star hotel with international guests. A lot of stains on the carpet and upholstery. Room was never properly dusted. AC was extremely weak, it also had to be switched off at night as it made us both cough when sleeping. It is about a ten minute walk from the MTR station. However we already knew this and felt that the view from our room more than made up for the location and slight inconvenience. I wish bottled water had been provided in the mini-fridge instead of just soda and beer.
The view - we paid for a sea view, we were on the 8th floor and it was simply amazing. Even though the hotel was definitely not perfect the view made up for it. The check-in receptionist Ellie was lovely, friendly, courteous and professional. She spoke to my husband and I in both Cantonese and English (my husband is fluent in both, I am not fluent in Cantonese). The room was nicely laid out and comfortable and a decent size for HK. Iron and board provided in room. Nice swimming pool. Complimentary selection of drinks in mini-fridge. Good rainfall shower and additional shower hose. Black out curtains were very effective.

CanadaNot a great value for money. Definitely not 5 star service (no help with bags, room only cleaned after 3 PM, etc). Also I’d suggest staying on the other side of hong kong near SoHo, it’s where I would stay next time!
It was a nice hotel, clean, amazing views, good location.

PolandUpon arrival, I paid for an upgrade to a room with a city view. However, when I reached the corridor, nobody offered to help with my luggage at the reception. To reach the room, I had to drag my bags across the carpet and open heavy doors that required a key card. The doors were not even automatic, which is surprising for a five-star hotel. Additionally, there were machines running in the hallway to remove moisture. When I entered the room, the stench was unbearable( same in the hallway) , as if someone had soaked the carpet or attempted to clean a dirty, dusty carpet with water but without any detergents. You could smell dumb and dry carpet smell. This caused an awful odor in the room, and when I asked the staff if this was normal, they replied that it was. The light switches were confusing and not at all intuitive. Moreover, if you wanted to charge a laptop using the outlet near the bed, it was impossible because the plug simply wouldn’t fit. 😅The room design was entirely poorly thought out, but the worst thing of all was the smell. When I asked the reception in the evening (9pm) where I could eat, or if they had a restaurant, they only directed me to a self-service bar downstairs ; don’t remember the name of the restaurant . They told me that food would be delivered to some tables, but at others, it was only available for takeaway. For takeaway orders, you had to pay at a separate counter and then collect it at the bar. It was an absolute disaster. Even in four-star hotels I’ve stayed at before, the experience was far better than at this so-called five-star hotel. I have no idea how this hotel got its rating. And as for the price? I could have stayed at The Peninsula for the same cost. I also forgot to mention that the windows in the room could not be opened to freshen up the air, and turning on the air conditioning did not help at all. As for the helpful staff, the only person who was truly helpful was the housekeeper.
My stay at this hotel was the worst of all the five-star hotels I’ve visited over the past month while traveling for business in China and Hong Kong. I don’t understand how this hotel could even have five stars. It’s all style over substance, and the price is highly inflated. Starting with the rooms themselves, their amenities, and the hotel service—everything left me deeply disappointed. The only redeeming features are the location and the view. Other than that, I know this was my first and last stay at this hotel.

United KingdomI did find a hair in my sink from someone. Bit gross. Check in took ages, long queue. I was hoping for a relaxing spa experience, but facilities EG steam room was tiny and not very thought through. Pool definitely looks better in photos!
View from my room was pretty stunning. Room was one of the best aspects - really comfortable. Breakfast buffet was great.

United KingdomService on last night very poor and overly rigid Guests were not told red sugar had a private event on if we had known we would not have eaten in hotel. Ate in lobby bar and my main course arrived before my wife’s and I had finished when here’s arrived 20 mins later. The bill was then brought immediately with card machine as waitresses obviously wanted to leave as soon as last service over at 9.30. We then went for a nightcap cocktail to be told bar shut for private event and no other drink options available. When asked at reception advised order 2 glasses of champagne from room and have in lobby which had no atmosphere at all. When then tried to order 2 glasses in room were told we had to order a bottle - eventually they checked with a manager and agreed to provide - we waited 30 minutes it had not and cancelled !!! Not what we wanted on our last night in Hong Kong

Australia1st Room stank of Cigarette - The worst i have experienced (this was after being lectured about smoking in the room at check in). Breakfast is ridiculously expensive. If you have a guest come for a meeting it's almost HK$400 and nothing special.

SingaporeSome of staff were friendly and not helpful . There are room for improvement, especially for the services. For example, I was travel with a 5 year old child. I have informed the hotel staff via booking emails , when I arrived front desk staff mixed up my booking with another person, and informed me my room booked was a twin- bedded room. When I was worried about if my child will fall down from the bed ( because of the twin-bed) and no any help offered from the staff. Just simple informed no idea ! Then later found my booking should be a king size bed. No extra groceries and towels prepared for the kid. Need to ask….. The lady who makes Japanese fried dumplings the attitude was terrible 😫
Great view and facilities . Overall the property was meeting my expectations of a 5 start hotel .

United KingdomCheck in was easy, staff were nice, but not forthcoming. However, for a 5 star hotel we felt it lacked in small things. For example, there was some sort of stain on the carpet which wasn't so pleasant. Attached a photo. I understand these things happen but as a 5 star hotel I would not expect this to not be sorted. The mini bar is sparse. Housekeeping come very early. I did on a few occasions put the do not disturb, but that means you then have to call them to get your room serviced, which can be a tedious. Some of the bathroom amenities were not replenished, specially sanitary bags, which I felt should have been. The hotel itself isn't in the best location, not much near it, you can walk to a supermarket mall in about 7 minutes. There are 2 MRT stations near it, Hunghom is about a 12 minute walk and Whampoa is 7 minutes.
We choose this hotel for our first wedding anniversary, as we wanted to splash out a little. The hotel did arrange for a lovely surprise for our anniversary, I have attached a photo. That was a lovely touch! Room was lovely and spacious. The breakfast is one of the best in regards to quantity of selection, however it is expensive if it is not included in your stay.
