Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesReally small. Be tired when you get back to room because you can only lie down. Thought the bathroom above mine was leaking into my bathroom. Scared me.
Close to everything. Museum, port Elizabeth, metro across the street. Room very inexpensive. Staff isn’t always there but when woman was there she was very nice and helpful.

GermanyIt's not easy for everybody to find it, since it's located in a building with many geust hauses and al ot of shops in the ground and first floor.
Cozy clean small room, fit easily two persons, it had two small beds, it was ok for my height. the lady at the reception is friendly and helpful.

United StatesThis is a one-star hotel and the pics are suprisingly accurate. The rooms are tiny, just a twin bed, little desk, and one outlet. The bathroom is something. I had to ask where the shower was, because it's just a handheld showerhead on the wall between the toilet and sink. Make sure to turn on the heat switch, because it contols the hot water. Note... everything will get soaked! No actual towels provided, just paper, disposable ones.
Location is perfect! In the actual building, it took a bit of time to find. Fine for a night.

PhilippinesWell, I was not really expecting anything grand. I already knew the downsides of booking a hostel in Chungking mansions. The room has this smell that is really noticeable when you open the door, but the Lady Staff gave us an air freshener, and it wasn't a big deal after. It's a bit crowded on the ground floor.
I liked how close it is to the MTR and other tourist destinations. You can also find a lot of shops around the area. The building is easy to find and is also near the bus stop. It can be a bit confusing to locate "E" where the guesthouse is but just follow the signs and you can also ask around. The room I booked was good for 3 and it was comfortable enough. We have our own bathroom, small but doable. I advise you bring your own bath towel since the one they're providing are the disposable ones. The lady staff is friendly, too. She let me checked in early without additional fee.

United KingdomRoom was tiny (even for Hong Kong standards). Had to rotate moving to get past each other as a couple and not enough room for any bags. Toilet was also tiny with shower on top of toilet. Would suit a single traveller much better.
Great location and room was very clean.

United KingdomDifficult to find, tucked away in a huge market building. Not really a dislike, just a bit inconvenient. The bathroom was essentially a toilet cubicle, which is fine, but the room was advertised as having a private bathroom and, although there was a shower hose, there wasn't enough space to be able to shower because of the toilet and a small sink.
Comfy bed. Friendly host. Quiet room.

AustraliaNot a dislike, but a con to be mentioned: the room is small - the bed fills it - your luggage goes under the bed - didn't bother me at all. I wasn't in HK to hang around in a room. It's in Chungking Mansions - also not a problem for me, but it might put others off staying here.
Clean room, friendly staff, secure enough, comfortable bed with amazing pillows! TV in room with access to NetFlix/YouTube etc., room had a window, which isn't always available. I was allowed to drop luggage before check-in. Water dispenser in foyer, shops & services on ground floor, proximity to 2 MTR stations. Great location.

RussiaThe room is tiny, like I guess all of this type of accommodation in hong kong. But it's REALLY tiny. The bed practically takes all room, and it's not a really big bed. The bathroom is microscopic. But for hong kong it was cheap which was the reason why we booked it.
The location is really good. It's a little hard to find, but they give you instructions. Very close to the subway and to the harbor . If you like jogging outside , that's the spot for you.

MalaysiaGiven that this is HKG, it is known that the room is very small. They also provided you with a disposable bath towel.
Location & Value for money 😀 If you want to look for halal food, there are a lot of halal restaurants at the ground floor of this building ~ Chungking Mansion and it is probably the cheapest area eat and sleep in HKG. Location great. Just 10minutes away from Victoria Harbour / Star Ferry.

United StatesThey only gave me 2 disposable towels, which were very thin, to use for my 4-night stay; the shower and toilet are shared in a very small space, making for a very wet floor bathroom (after showering) in front of the toilet, which inconveniently limited my shower time to only just before me leaving my room for multiple hours (the time needed for the floors to sufficiently dry); I did see 1 ordinary small cockroach and 2 baby roaches during the entire stay (much less than what other people report seeing in other guest houses in this building); the room (1 full bed and 1 twin) was very small, but minimally acceptable in size for me (just one person in the room).
The mattress was extremely comfortable; the room was very clean; the a/c was excellent; they provided purified water from their dispenser; the toilet was clean and with powerful flush; the doors closed slowly by themselves, preventing noise that other could hear, while preventing me from hearing others close their doors; decent size refrigerator for the guests to share; extremely quiet place-I didn't hear any other guests or anything from the outside during the entire 4 nights there; Sound-proofing (concrete walls) is top notch; great, interesting location, contrary to what many people believe; the room stays very dark, allowing to sleep late or take a day nap, without sunlight getting in; the owner allowed me to check in after the designated 10pm cut-off, due to my flight arriving later than expected; free snack food provided by the guest house; very comfortable pillows; comfortable blanket; no bad odors or mold smell in the room or common area.
