Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Hong KongThe lack of toilet paper in the toilets and the green shampoo smells like swerage.
I loved the staff. There is one very hard working lady named KC, she works tirelessly to ensure that our stay is comfortable and that all the guests (even the super rude ones) stay according to the rules. I appreciate KC.

RussiaParis guest house and city hk guesthouse are the same place, bear that in mind. I had top bed. It was creaky, and it was really hard to get there.
The staff was ok, I think. The location is ok, the room has a window, that's a big plus. They have instant coffee and a boiler

GermanyWhile I mention that location is perfect, the building itself is weird (I mean, it might be relatively typical for the city, but the first-comers should probably prepare themselves a bit. It felt better just to use elevator straight to your floor, not trying your luck with stairs (and wildlife there), and I could also understand people mentioning that it might seem unsafe for solo female travellers (though the elevators have cameras and a screen on the first floor was showing who is currently inside. For the room itself (bed in the 4-bed dorm), bathroom was weird (with shower head just on top of the toilet, though I understand it's a local feature as well), and room was super small, pretty much like a sleeping compartment in the overnight train (also expected). No shades, no electric socket (at least by my upper "bunk"), and quite poor ventilation, that can only be adjusted at the expense of other people (a small window directly above the head of the neighbouring "bunk"). If I stayed longer than just one night between my flights, I imagine I could communicate with the neighbours about switching the light off at the reasonable time, and also arrange an extension cord and get some electricity. But as it was, I could barely sleep for more that a couple of hours.
Location is perfect (super close to subway and to many touristic spots) Not so hard to find - as long as you enter the building, it's quite clear how to reach the elevator, and then it's clearly written on which floor is the reception. Staff was friendly, and probably used to people being overall confused with this building and navigation.

PhilippinesWe stayed at Paris Guest House in Chungking Mansions, Hong Kong, for five days and four nights, and it was a wonderful experience! One of the highlights of our stay was the incredible hospitality of the staff, particularly the Filipino workers. A special shoutout to Ms. Donna, who went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and well taken care of. While our room was small, it was very suitable for travelers on a tight budget, offering everything we needed for a convenient and affordable stay.

JapanActually, everything looks dirty. However, this building, 重慶大廈, has been famous for backpackers since 1961, when it was completed. So, if you want to touch the real backpackers' experience, you can enjoy here.
The location is pretty good. MTR is close, which takes 2 minutes on foot.

United KingdomCame here expecting a very basic hostel for a cheap price. Had very low expectations… and we have been travelling round the world now for 6 months and I can honestly say this is the absolute worst ‘hostel’ we went to. I don’t care about untidy hallways, chaos on the ground floor or a bit of dust etc. but what I do care about is being sold something on Booking.com via images and descriptions which say it has ‘air-con’ clean bedding etc. which is then not delivered. Upon arrival At reception (after paying) we were led to an entirely different guesthouse through what only can be described as a labyrinth and shown to a room which was really different to the ones shown in the images. No aircon, walls were basically dripping with condensation and a bed which was no bigger than a queen with questionable white stains. I opened the curtain to find a gaggle of men standing staring in too. I suddenly remembered I had some self respect for myself and decided to immediately leave and book another hostel round the corner. It was so nice and honestly made such a difference to our time in HK. It’s basically a scam because they have different images to the ones you are shown and they just put you wherever. I asked for my money back and they refused (after I told them I had left they asked me to come back to reception to change rooms) but if I’m honest I don’t actually think i would be able to find my way back through the maze.
Absolutely nothing.
