Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Thé room was great, huge bed and loads of space. A fantastic bathroom with a huge shower and also a enormous balcony, which was more like a patio veranda.

United StatesAlam Jiwa is beautiful and is an idylic traditional Balinese Hotel. The absolute best part, though, is the staff. They are the most warm, welcoming people and will do everything to make your stay truly special. I can’t wait to go back and stay with them again.

United StatesEmery, everything is just so perfect. The whole hotel was like a beautiful garden that was hidden in the secret jungle flowers blossoms everywhere in the night it was unbelievably quiet. Stuff are just so friendly and helpful. Me and my mom had scheduled a tour seeing dolphins so we had to get up at 4 AM. The stuff of the hotel, surprisingly, prepared to breakfast in box for us, can you believe that? This is a probably the best service we had in Indonesia. Thanks again our friends in Alam Jiwa! I’m looking forward to coming back. In the future. I’m serious.

BulgariaA very beautiful place, south from Ubud, near a rice field with astonishing views and far away from the crowds. Accommodation - the hotel has several unique-style villas, with big rooms, balcony/terrace and a wonderful view to the nearby rice fields. Location - the hotel is south from Ubud (15-30 minutes from Ubud center, depending on the traffic; free shuttle available per request in both directions). The villas are near a small river, with a beautiful view to the rice fields on the other shore of the river. Personal - the hotel stuff was always kind, friendly and smiling. They fulfilled all our requests: using the pool in the evening, after a long day wondering around Ubud; having knife and plates near the pool to taste the delicious fruits we've bought from the local markets. The staff made us feel as we were at home. Thank you! Breakfast/Food - the hotel does not have it's designated eating area or own restaurant. Breakfast is pre-ordered a day before and can be served directly in the villa or in the lobby. The experience having breakfast on your balcony and enjoying the view and the sounds of the nearby nature were amazing! Lunch or dinner can also be ordered and delivered to the hotel from two different restaurants (delivery is free of charge). Transportation - getting around was easy and on a good price. There is a free shuttle to Ubud city center. Depending on the traffic, the ride takes 15-30 minutes. With an additional charge, the shuttle can also drive you to some restaurant or place far from the city center. For my case the price was cheaper than the taxi. You can also book an airport transfer or a car to drive you around - visiting temples, waterfalls, workshops, Bali pird park, Safari, Zoo - whatever you like. Ela, our driver, was very kind and friendly, arranging the trips was easy (usually the evening before the trip).

United StatesThe toilet seat (side of it, so it was hard to find, maybe..) had BM stain from previous guests and I had to clean, that was sad, and the sink leaked from pipe underneath.
Everything was amazing. Only thing is that bathroom was a bit dark, and bathtub does not have any grab bars or something to hold on to, so my old mother was scared.

AustraliaUnreliable WiFi. Not enough lounge chairs around the pool (mostly taken over by a single family).
Staff were outstanding. The property is small in a hidden private oasis, surrounded by green/gardens/rice fields - quiet and peaceful, yet within walking distance of reasonable restaurants, and, if energetic, Ubud (though the hotel provides a shuttle service into Ubud). The architectural style and ambience are traditional Balinese, with comfortable, immaculately clean, spacious rooms well set apart and private balconies. Located in a pretty village near Monkey Forest. Generous breakfast, which could be served on your balcony, by the pool or in a small communal area. Could order in food (lunch/dinner).

RussiaCharming hotel with super friendly, attentive and helpful staff. Built in traditional balenese style years ago it is beatufully absorbed by vegitation. We got a distinct feel of merge with nature. Our room overlooking small river and rice fields boosted this feeling and provuded great views and sounds. Especially in the evenings when croaking frogs accompany chirping beatles. Alam Jiwa is set in quiet neighborhood 10 mins walk from monkey forest. Warungs and restaurants are located even closer and offer diverse food options.

FranceI would have liked a softer pillow. A suitcase stand would have been great also.
A really beautiful property in a gorgeous setting by a river. My room was huge with a gorgeous bathroom and a massive bed with a mosquito net. No need for air-conditioning! I had a lovely terrace overlooking the river. I could not have been happier! I like the fact that they had filtered water in the bathroom so no need to buy water. Exceptional staff and everyone so friendly. I wish I could've stayed longer!

United KingdomOnce there, we had a fantastic time, but the airport was a bit overwhelming and the journey to Ubud is a long one and a bit full on with the amount of mopeds on the roads. Had a great driver, but it's something to bear in mind.
Our stay at Alam Jiwa was above and beyond what we were expecting. Incredible views of the rice fields from our balcony, where can take breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was exceptional - great quality and quantity - and there are many other cafes and restaurants in very easy walking distance if you want a bit more variety. There is also a free drop-off service in and around Ubud if you drop reception a message. The staff were exceptional, we felt more than guests here and were very grateful to all of the staff. They would always go above and beyond to help you (Manek even personally walked us through the rice fields as a shortcut to the Monkey Forest, which was a delightful experience). Expect to see animals and insects, you're in the jungle. We saw monkeys, lizards, geckos and insects, but theres good protection from mosquitoes with nets over the beds and coils in outdoor spaces. Definitely bring spray with you though, you'll need it. Pool was very relaxing and never too busy, and my partner had a very nice massage in Alam Shanti which is affliated with the hotel, about 10 mins walk down the road, and was very reasonably priced. Had the best time here and would most definitely come again.

AustraliaEach day, in the late afternoon, there was a smell of rubbish in the air. Noisy croaking frogs after the rainy day.
Nice to be surrounded by greenery. Lovely breakfast. Lots of choice. Big room with attached balcony. Very helpful staff, especially Ayu and Wayan. They helped us organise a private car & driver to visit the waterfalls in the area. The pool area is small but very pleasant, especially as they serve a daily complimentary afternoon tea, either in your room or by the pool. We really liked the area around the hotel, much quieter and more peaceful than central Ubud. We used the free hotel shuttle into town a few times, but actually preferred the 30min walk to/from town via the monkey forest, as the traffic/roads can be very busy. Easy walk to various places to eat near the hotel.

Had the most amazing time at Alam Jiwa. Staff were incredible. When is say nothing was too much trouble I truly mean it. They were the best staff. The hotel itself was beautiful. A calm little oasis in the middle of Ubud. Wouldn’t stay anywhere else if I returned. Breakfast was great and loved being able to have it in the room. Shuttle into town was helpful and a little shortcut through monkey forest meant you’re only about a ten-15 min walk out of town during the day
