Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Really good communication beforehand and allowed an easy check in after arriving late in the night. Friendly staff who are very helpful with organising any tours or transfers you’d like (pretty cheap as well). Spacious, comfy rooms with everything you need.

Such a unique, comfortable hostel with incredible facilities and a restful vibe. Stayed in a private room which was quite large. The staff are incredibly helpful and just overall so so lovely, went above and beyond.

The best hotel I ever stayed in Indonesia!! I can't believe this price can have perfect quality！ All the staff is super nice and helpful. Specking fluently English and even Chinese. And the room and shared space are clean and comfortable. Great to see kitchen and water dispenser! They also provide both group and private tours to Ijen. I joined it and had a great experience! Hope to be here again someday🥰🥰

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room and shared areas were quite clean. They have different excursions and transportation options which is nice However, the bathroom and toilet were not great and could have been cleaner. Hot water was only available on the first floor. No shampoo was provided, and toilet paper was often missing. There were no flip-flops available for the second-floor toilet, so you always ended up with wet feet. A small kitchen was available for use, which was nice, but the sponge was so old that it was really disgusting.

The shower was a bit weird and we couldn't shower properly.
Staff really nice, beds from the private room very comfortable, and really good price. Good check out hour, as we did Ijen during the night and we could rest a bit before leaving.

There was no mosquito net in the room as there are small windows without glass. Is a bit uncomfortable especially during the wet season.
Great staff! Good recommendation for the area. There is a kitchen to use.
