Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Moroccoeverything was perfect, ordering food and drinks though by the hotel application takes a bit of time, but they always react when texting them by WhatsApp.
The castle is really big and very well decorated, clean, the staff are amazing, and it’s just very relaxing to be there.

United Arab Emiratesno privacy, I was expecting 3-bedroom villa with private pool, but it appeared to be 3-bedroom accommodation in private property with shared pool - my mistake according to lost in translation. As everything was as it is on the pictures, I could understand it earlier.
Interesting place with its history, great library, antiques and hidden rooms. You can feel that it is loved by the owners and staff, it has nice energy. We spend several days just talking to each other on the riverbank, didn't want to go anywhere. It was very comfortable to order food in property application, laundry, taxi or tour. Shiatsu massage was the best I ever had, so we booked it for almost all days we stayed in this villa.

AustraliaArthur said that his vision is expanding and we are looking forward to seeing how this pans out. As you can imagine nothing is perfect there are always ways to improve upon any accommodation. We noted that the aircon was not very cool. And the bathroom whilst aesthetically very pleasing and instagrammable was impractical.
Arthur's vision is fabulous and fantastical. I loved the lobby with it's eclectic curios nestled amongst the bookshelves. The dungeon hatch leading to the owners accommodation was unique and added to the novelty. The secret entrances via a moveable book shelf was like something in a movie. The staff were lovely as were the owners.

United KingdomFood was overpriced in comparison to eating out elsewhere, with small portions and long delivery times. Location is good if you want a quieter environment and to stay in the hotel. Our driver informed us that the area isn’t really touristy so transport is necessary if you want to explore further.
Good facilities, multiple small pools with a jacuzzi. Room was spacious, bathroom was really cool being outside with a sunken large bath.

AustraliaOptions for food were limited. Limited alcoholic options. Whilst there were several great massage ladies, there was one that was not great and it impacted me wanting any more.
We had a driver at our disposal to take up to UBUD and Kuta for minimal cost. The view and pools at the property were amazing. It was nice and quiet and anything we needed we were assisted with.

AustraliaThere are a lot of really great features of the avalon and its genuinely a cool place. A couple of downsides the low water pressure and sheer size of the bathtubs make them a 2.5hr wait to fill up. The carpentry on the doors is poorly done so the doors have gaps and stick meaning you need to pee in the night and you wake the whole neighbourhood. The place is not well built so there is significant sound transference between the rooms. This was fine for 4 out of 5 nights but unfortunately night 5 saw our neighbours check in at 1am and carry on until about 3am. Not really a fault of the hotel but of obnoxious people. The time from ordering food and drink to it arriving is about an hour. Not a problem if you know this ahead of time. It would be nice if they were transparent about the order time. On a whole we enjoyed our stay.
The place itself is beautiful, really asthetic with great swimming pools. The rooms are spacious and lovely with really intricate bathrooms with absolutely enormous bathtubs. They use a nifty app to book activities and order food.

United KingdomOccasionally, we felt a bad/ dump smell coming from the bathroom. The food was good but perhaps the portion wise it was on a smaller side compared to other places we've tried.
Amazing space, we loved the place. Just give it a shot, the owners and staff were just wonderful and very helpful. The decor and execution of the place is beyond creative and hats down one of the best places we've stayed in Bali. We'd definitely stay again.

United KingdomThe food wasn't great, it was quite slow when you order on the app. Its also not clear what some of the food is on the app so a bit of a suprise when you order it. Unfortunately it wasn't always very tasty! I felt like the pools could be cleaner as there were lots of leaves and bugs in it. Also people had ordered food round the pool and these hadn't been cleared away so would collect ants. A mosquito net around the bed would be great as the small wooden villas had lots of gaps in for mosquitos.
This is such a beautiful place, the pools are pretty and it's right by a lovely river. There is a spa here too, I had a massage, and it was fantastic. The staff are really kind and helpful.

CanadaLocation, nothing close by to walk to, need to book taxi every time you want to go to Ubud central . But if you don’t care for being in the area where all the restaurants and bars are then you should be good

AustraliaIt's not good for the elderly/fragile or anyone with disabilities. The steps are terrible! From the entrance off the road to the hotel is all steps. There is no access from the car park to any rooms, only down steep steps, which are at uneven heights. The food didn't taste bad it's just that it was cold when it got to us. Had to ask for a kettle and milk as not supplied in your suite prior to request.😐
The actual concept of the castle was great, set in a beautiful area right next to the river. A lot of interesting artifacts and generally a good place to stay if you're looking to escape the business of Ubud

I loved everything about this place! I mean it’s a Victorian Dream House honestly! The moment you walk in the reception you see this fairy tale inspired library and as you walk around the property , the breathtaking river view at the back side is a cherry on cake for sure! Rooms are a true paradise❤️

PolandIt is good idea to order food in advance via app, otherwise you have wait for quite some time. There is no bar so even for beverages waiting time was about 30 min.

AustraliaNot really something we didn’t liked but the property is far away (walking distance) from anything. But getting a scooter to Ubud costs $2-$3 so nothing that can’t be done.
Everything. The property is really a castle, the decoration is fantastic (rooms and lobby), breakfast is delicious, floating breakfast for no extra charge, bath and shower work perfectly, the staff makes sure that you are aware of all the facilities… I mean, this is exactly it - what a gem!

NetherlandsIt is a bit far from Ubud Centre and not much restaurants in the neighborhood. The hotel works with an app, which is helpful for booking a massage, order drinks etc, but WiFi is not always good and you get disconnected a lot while using the app.
The hotel itself is beautiful. Also the garden and swimming pools are fabulous. Rooms very big and they have impressive bathrooms. Location at river is also very nice. Great concept! Massages great! It is nice that you can order drinks and food to be brought to your place of choice.
