Simple but nice hostel, perfect for a night to climb up Mount Batur. The best was to relax at the hot spring pool afterwards. There is breakfast included which was also very nice!

Very helpful and great staff. Unique experience to swim in a natural hot pool and a great reward to swim after the mountain hike. Beautiful view. The hostel nature means it is sociable and very friendly atmosphere. Very nice shower. In the shared room, there are no privacy curtains or air con however this did not matter to me. The fan was good and it is higher evaluation so is naturally cooler

There are plenty of flies in the afternoon everywhere in this area.

Very comfortable bed, clean room with beautiful view to the Batur lake, good food. The two hot water pools were the best! We stayed 3 days and the pools were cleaned every day (they change the water daily). The hiking path to Batur is near by, easy to go for a hike. The place was much better thank we expected. We'll go there again!

Very rocky road to get to the hostel. I also didn't care for the very dim lights in the room, made it hard to see. Very few electric plugs.

Perfect stay for hiking Mt Butar! Beautiful views from the public deck restaurant. Beautiful pools though we didn't get to use them. Breakfast food was good and simple.

I have spent two nights at the hostel, one in the dorm and the other in one of the glamping tent. Both were nice and clean! The view from the tents is particularly nice, especially when the sun rises. The facilities are clean and functional, and the private hot spring pools at this the hostel are really a treat. Overall the environment is nice, friendly and very cosy. The staff is nice and helpful, the food is very good and cheap!

Lots of fruit flies in the warung because the place is near a vegetable garden. However, the staff will gladly help you to overcome this issue by giving you a fly trap or candle to expel them.

Everything about this place. I stayed here for a short retreat for about 3 nights. I didn't need to go out of this hostel except for when I climbed Mount Batur (which they helped to arrange for me as well) because this place has everything; comfortable room, amazing Batur Lake and Mount Abang views, friendly staff, fine food, and most importantly, hot spring pools that you can use every time as you please.

Brilliant location. We were worried about the drive up the hill by were pleasantly surprised upon arrival. Cute bungalow with amazing view. Infinity pool (hot spring pool) overlooking the lake and mountain. Magnificent view. Such a clean pool. Staff very eager to please and the omelette was heavenly

Great accommodation with magnificent views. The hot springs pool is wonderful. Bed super comfortable, bali coffee delicious. Staff are very helpful and will help you organise anything you need. Food was basic but OK. Breakfast was fine.

Absolutely everything was great! This is a hidden gem up on the hill with the best value for money you can get! The place is just beautiful, staff so welcoming and helpful, the hot pools overlooking the mountains and Batur Lake are just what you need after a tiring Mt Batur hike! Very piecefull and relaxing! Would come back anytime! I've stayed in a dorm, traveling solo, met beautiful souls to socialize with. The surrounding is just so nice to walk around,too! Delicious banana pancake and coffee for breakfast :-)

There are many flys around the property which is not a fault of the hostel but just something to be aware of. Bring fly spray if you are not a fan of them !

Black Lava is a great choice if you’re planning on doing the Sunrise Trek. Komang, our tour kind was excellent and I couldn’t recommend him enough ! As far as the property, it’s very basic. Bamboo showers, mattresses on the floor and an eating area to eat. The two hot springs pools they have make the whole stay worth it, clean, hot and eye catching!

Nothing to note about the hotel itself - only that the taxis offered are on the expensive side (450k for 1 hour 30 min to go to Sidemen), as the apps don’t seem to work in the area.

Great view over the lake and Mount Agung - to be enjoyed within the hot spring pool at the center of the hotel! Very cool location and good food, also conveniently located at the start of a path to hike up Mount Batur.
