Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

IndiaThe property is not recommended for people with mobility issues as the entire property is designed in steps and has lot of small and big elevations to climb to access rooms, restaurants and lobby.
The property is very well managed and maintained. The hot water pressure in our villa needs some attention. The property has a wonderful jungle view from the main pool. The villa room’s pool are slightly deeper for younger kids.

LithuaniaNOTHING!
Not sure where to start - absolutely everything was exceptional. The late check in was an experience - the staff greeted us with welcome drinks. The breakfast is nothing short of amazing - a main, a dessert plus a buffet open for those looking to stock up for the day. Beverages were also amazing and coffees available to-go. The room was incredibly clean and was kept neat twice daily. Every little detail was taken care off (even folding the side of the duvet during the pre-bed clean). Many daily free transfers into Ubud city. Staff was excellent in helping us with everything, like organising the sunrise Mt Batur trekking (and even packing us an extra breakfast). SPA is fantastic as well. We all went for 2hr treatments and it was the best experiences we have ever had - amazing masseuses, facilities, and like everywhere, attention to detail. Last but not least, the upstairs restaurant was incredible - the food, the setting, the service. All 10/10. Just want to say a massive thanks to all the lovely staff that made our stay truly special. Matur suksma from Denas and family 🙏

SingaporeThe yoga instructor should be switched around a bit
Loved the room, surroundings and lovely staff especially Gusti, Ayu, Yatika who were most welcoming and accomodated my requests. This stay really felt like it was back to nature! The food at the upper deck for dinner was great and i loved the apoori at breakfast full of flavour. Each room was huge and so inviting with the layout and decor. Staircase to the loft looked a little dangerous for young kids to navigate, older kids should be fine. The massage was really good one hour wasn’t enough!

ItalyThe structure is furnished with taste and once arrived at our suite we were surprised at the breathtaking panorama. We had dinner and breakfast à la carte and, as Italian, I can say the food was superb. We also loved the cobbled street to get at the hotel, surrounded by rice fields and fireflies at night.

RussiaAmazing place with a pristine atmosphere of jungles located in a very quiet area. The hotel offers comfortable accommodation in a very spacious rooms and villas. Excellent swimming pool 30 m long attracts all guests all day long. Spa zone is well maintained and designed. Therapists offer a great variety of massage. And the main reason you should stay here is a perfect cuisine provided by the local culinary team. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are so delicious that you’ll remember them forever!

PhilippinesSteps from the pool to the rooms can be issue for those with mobility issues and kids. After a long pool session we had to carry our kids up to the room most of the times.
We loved the hospitality, the rooms (and the views from the rooms) and the food - both at breakfast and otherwise. Putu took great care of us as did all the other staff.

Hungary* There are geckos in the room, thus the pest control measures are ineffective. Guests should be informed in advance that lizards enter the room, and they are quite noisy. Choose this hotel only if you don't mind sharing your space with lizards. * The balcony is not cleaned daily and is often covered in bird droppings and other animal waste. * The pillows are uncomfortable, and the bed sheets were only changed after we requested it on the fourth night. * Smoke from neighboring apartments wafts into the room, so perhaps smoking should be prohibited on balconies. * The office-like curtains in the gallery area of our suite, where the twin beds are, is in poor condition. * Given the size of the room, a larger TV would be a better fit. * The pool area is usually overcrowded, and there is a system for reserving sunbeds, which are insufficient in number. The pool area could benefit from significant improvements. * We were the least satisfied with the pool staff’s attitude. While they smiled at guests, we noticed they made unkind gestures behind their backs. * The breakfast staff was disappointing, especially when a staff member (Gede) seated a couple with one child at a large table above us, despite us being a group of two adult & three children. * Breakfast service, particularly the coffee, was very slow, even when the breakfast hall wasn’t busy. * Hot water was intermittent in our room. * The prices at the pool bar are misleading. Everything costs 20% more than the menu indicates, with the additional charge printed in very small font (7.5 size) at the bottom of the menu. However, credit is due to the spa staff, who informed us of this extra charge when we booked a massage. * In our suite, the toilet door is a sliding door that doesn’t close fully, and there is no ventilation in the toilet. * The hotel is quite far from the center of Ubud, so expect a 25-30 minute drive each time you need to visit a restaurant, convenience store, or pharmacy.
It might seem strange why we rated this hotel highly despite the issues detailed below and the obvious need for improvement. The reason is simple: there are two types of hotels, regardless of whether they are 5-star or 2-star. A hotel either has "ambience" or it doesn’t. It's difficult to describe, but you can feel it—an atmosphere that’s hard to define. Chapung Sebali definitely has that something extra. Despite its flaws, it falls into the category of being a breathtaking, mesmerizing little hotel.

SingaporePool wasn't heated. Mosquitoes were expected but nonetheless annoying. The property do provide mosquito repellents FOC. Property has a lot of steps and is definitely not a stroller friendly resort, family travellers with young kids be informed.
A nice quaint and private forest resort away from the hustle and bustle. Great in-room breakfast. Staff were helpful and friendly. A definitely must try resort in Ubud area.

NorwayNothing, really
This is probably the nicest hotel i've ever stayed at, and well worth the price. The photos look good, but it was even more beutiful than pictured. Everywhere you go, the estethic is carefully thought out. The rooms were beatiful, and a bit of 60s vibe. The pool and the overlook of the steep valley and greenery is breathtaking, and with a very cool estetich to the furniture. Breakfast was great, the food and cocktails at the jungle fish were alright, but most of all, this is a great refuge in a serene and clean place, and an espace from the hustle and bustle in the rest of the island. We had a private pool room. The pool was a bit cold (it was raining the days we were there), but refreshing.
