Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SwitzerlandReview of D’Wan Tea Mountain Side Villa I had a wonderful time at D’Wan Tea Mountain Side Villa. This place is a true paradise for those seeking solitude and a chance to experience the authentic Bali with its unique nature and traditions. Getting there is indeed challenging, but coordinating with the host beforehand solves all issues. The villa is surrounded by magnificent rice fields and scenic spots that are a must-see. I particularly enjoyed the tea ceremony masterclass, which added unique experiences to my stay. Although there were some misunderstandings with the staff due to language barriers, all issues were promptly resolved, and they were always eager to help. The trip to the local temple was one of the highlights thanks to the staff’s assistance. The only thing that could have improved my stay is the variety and quality of food. I would like to see a wider selection of dishes with clear descriptions in English in the future. Overall, I felt at home here and would happily recommend this place to anyone wanting to discover the real Bali.

FrancePool was being filled up when we arrived, so not so inviting, but over the days, it was getting replenished (due to leaks, I believe). We didn’t use the pool at all in the end, nor the sauna. There was a toilet in the communal area downstairs by the gym and sauna, but it was not clean. The entrance to the Joglo house is disappointing - see the photo, you approach from the back side, which is not its best angle. Hard to change this, but you should not have false expectations.
Location is in the quiet, outside of the tourist trap of Jatiluwih. But still close enough to all those must do activities in the village, either by a good walk (downhill) or moped ride. We ended up renting mopeds in the village (family of 4, kids on the back). It gave us the independence we wanted to choose when to head back, where to eat, etc. The location is down and up a few steep roads, which is common for Bali, but a little tough to navigate. And although I say “quiet”, it is in the forest, and the forest noises are loud at night! Geckos, roosters in the morning, etc, quite the chorus. Breakfast and dinners were very tasty Indonesian fare. The views are Spectacular across the forest. The Joglo room/house is good, but the bathroom and shower is quite dated. Not the same standard as the double rooms. The host is a great character and helped us feel at home and settle in. We tasted the tea, which was lovely.

United Arab EmiratesThe WiFi in my room was not functional, so I had to relocate to the dining area whenever I needed to use it.
The property provided an excellent getaway for my weekend retreat. The owner was incredibly friendly and hospitable, which added to the overall positive experience. The room itself was excellent, offering comfort and all the amenities I needed. I truly enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend it to others looking for a relaxing escape.

NetherlandsIt's a rustic homestay that hasn't been renovated in 30 years so go with an open mind. It's quite off the beaten track but you do go through some nice rice paddies along the way.
A lovely homestay with incredible views of the mountains/volcanos. Owner was very nice, and the house is very nice, if a bit tired. The pool side room has no ac and one is better equipped than the other, but they are comfortable. Great place if you want to get away for total peace and quiet with a view, otherwise not much to do there.

Switzerlandit‘s very far away from everything. we came there by grab, not knowing that we couldn‘t get away, because no grab or taxi is going to get you there. they have contact to a local driver, but it‘s pricey. although the ride was very nice, we learned a lot about balinese culture and he made our 2 hours long ride enjoyable.
in the middle if the jungle, beautiful views and very cozy decoration and furniture. we loved it! the people working there are kind and caring. they have a scooter rental, and within 10 minutes you are in the middle of the most beautiful ricefields.

NetherlandsThe hotel was very difficult to reach (impossible by car), because a 300 meter path had to be walked on the side of the mountain, with only worn wooden slats to walk on. Not the most practical with a suitcase or in the dark.
The view was absolutely beautiful, with the hotel being literally on the side of a mountain and having a jungle/mountain view. The room was extremely clean and the breakfast was a delicious local breakfast, with a few other options like fruit, cereal and pancakes. The hotel also specialises in tea farming and offered workshops in this area.

United StatesRoad has washed out since I was there 5 years ago. Guests can take a pleasant 5 minute walk while staff bring luggage in on motorbikes OR guests can ride with staff on motorbikes. I was fine with all that, but my wife was nervous about the narrow path along a steep slope.
D'wan was delightful. We had a great time there - the view is tremendous. The separate cottage is not quite as nice as the guest rooms in the main house, but it is very roomy and private.

Great unique location ‘in the jungle’ with an amazing view / setting & very friendly and welcoming hosts. A beautiful and well appointed quirky & spacious house with a big open fire that is lit at night for guests. Rooms are comfortable and provide everything required for a nice stay. Great location for trekking the Jatiluwih rice fields & we also enjoyed the tea experience run at the property. Owners very accommodating. Property has a pizza oven & table tennis, cards etc

New ZealandThis is a very artistic house, with amazing views of the near-by volcanic mountains. It's a quiet place so bring a book for the sun lounger. The staff prepared an unexpected array of traditional.dishes for dinner which we ate by candle light. They even lit an open fire in the evening. Breakfast was also very nice. We enjoyed their own home grown tea and were given a gift of tea when we left. Very nice people.

We absolutely loved the location and the property . D’wan is a family run small hotel in the middle of the jungle. The owners and the staff is super friendly, they made a very good dinner for us and the other guests and they helped us with transports. The location is out of this world, truly in the middle of the rainforest but still walking distance to the Kati Ludwig village and rice paddy (2k walk). The rooms are basic but the lounge/ terrace with mountain view is super nice and so it is the pool. A truly authentic experience. Bonus points: they produce their own tea which is delicious.
