Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyI was worried about booking a long term stay in a place that would end up being moldy, as Bali is notorious for. This place was sparkling clean and is also a very new property. No mold. Staff is delightfully helpful. The location, despite being outside the city a bit, is actually one of the reasons for this review. It is quiet, peaceful, and in the heart of the jungle. The jungle view directly from the infinity pool area was just picturesque. The city, for all it is worth, is noisy and smells of exhaust fumes. None of that up here in Gandatera. The hotel is a 6 minute “Grab Taxi” ride into the center of town. The room was comfortable and clean, although only one wall has a large sliding door to let in sunlight. The other walls all don’t have windows.

Indonesiaabsolutely loved everything about my stay! The property is stunning, with beautiful buildings and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Walking through the family’s gorgeous home before entering the accommodation added such a special touch. The staff were incredible—genuinely kind, always smiling, and incredibly helpful. Ari, in particular, went above and beyond to make the experience even better. I felt so at home, safe, and well taken care of. There wasn’t a single negative thing to say. I can’t wait to return! This place is truly amazing, and I highly recommend it to anyone.

ItalyThis place is magical: in the middle of the forest and with a beautiful swimming pool open 24/7. The staff is very nice and helpful and the rooms are big and clean. You need a motorbike for reaching the city center (just 5 minutes drive) but there are lots of options even if you don't have one (use grab etc). The breakfast is also very good. Thank you!

New ZealandThere was the usual ants in the room (esp being in the jungle) as well as the usual amount of bathroom mould. It didn’t detract from the great experience - it’s just a SE Asian thing.
The property, room and staff are excellent! I’ve been coming to Ubud for over 20 years and this is one of my new favourite places to stay. You will likely need a motorbike to get into town, unless you don’t mind a big walk.

EstoniaBreakfast was decent, really liked the pool area. The room was a little to big for the air conditioner so it was a bit hot during the night to sleep. We could also rent a scooter from there.

This hotel is family run and has several categories of room. It is really a very nice behind the traditional house over looking a beautiful garden. It was better than I expected. The breakfast was very good and had many options. The pool was really nice. My room was large and very clean.

AustraliaThis is a personal preference, but I found the bed quite hard. Some people might prefer to be closer to the centre of Ubud, though I didn't see this as a problem.
If you want to experience a taste of the "real Bali" and be close to Ubud, Gandatera is a great place to stay. The staff are friendly and fabulous, and the breakfast is delicious. The property is set back from the street and has a beautiful family temple on the grounds. It's tastefully decorated and has a fantastic infinity pool. Gandatera is located just outside Ubud and is an easy taxi ride or a 30-minute walk away. There are several excellent restaurants located within a ten-minute walk.

GermanyThe service was outstanding! I've stayed at several hotels in Bali, but the service and standards here exceeded my expectations. The sweetest cats are also part of the incredibly friendly team, adding a unique charm to the experience. Everyone goes above and beyond every single day. I can wholeheartedly recommend this place—it’s a little slice of paradise!

United KingdomOnly one small thing - the rooms are very well appointed and the beds are very comfortable- the addition of a bedside table and light would be very useful.
A lovely peaceful place. It was a privilege to see the family temple. The family members and the staff were all very welcoming and kind and helpful. The gardens and pool are very well maintained and very tranquil. It’s easy to book taxis or a car for the day. We loved our sightseeing day with Eddy.

IrelandThe room was spotless, with a fabulous infinity pool. The property felt very safe and secure. This hotel is owned and operated by a family who really make you feel right at home. We have been travelling SE Asia for 2.5 months and this was our best accomodation on our travels. We had the most luxurious stay for a backpacker friendly budget.

MalaysiaNot to term it as dislike but we did not expect it to be a Balinese design at the main entrance where only stairs were available. You will need to carry your baggage up a few steps and passed by their family units before reaching the accommodation. However, you will get the chance to understand the Balinese culture better.
The breakfast was great with main dish, fruits, hot drink & juice served. The staffs were friendly and accommodating. The location was great. Close to the town area but you will still need a transport to travel to the town area because of the hilly, dark and narrow roads.

GermanyAll perfect :)
We had an incredible stay at Gandaterra! At first we were a bit curious as the hotel didn’t have a lot of Reviews on Booking.com. But this place is a hidden secret spot for a perfect stay in Ubud. The breakfast(for me especially the banana Pancake :)) was amazing, the staff was so helpful and pleasent. The rooms were wonderful and clean, as well as the pool. The family & the whole team was wonderful! Thanks again Laura & Niklas
