the padlock at the front door is Abit tricky, especially for the first timers. the dorm room squeaks every time someone leaves the room.

Everything was fine. The hostel is new, so everything was in great condition, there was a lot of space and storage that could be locked with a key. The bathrooms were clean and the staff was attentive and helpful. Sorong isn't the most inviting city but the people make up for it. The host, Ingrid even gave me a ride in her car to extend my visa at immigration and bought me lunch afterward. Needless to say, I invited her to dinner the last night I was there. If you're a diver you will enjoy the fact that she is a divemaster and a great source of information for the area.

Breakfast was different every day and always tasty. Ingrid, the owner would usually deliver breakfast before I woke up and it was waiting for me downstairs.

Ingrid excels in customer service ❤️‍🩹 she's super kind, attentive and helpful! The room is just what you need, with a curtain for privacy and a locker with padlock. Showers and toilets are separate, which makes it easier for when a lot of people are around (although while I was there, barely saw 5 more guests). Air conditioned, breakfast and a big greeny backyard 💚

What a great experience I had at this hostel! Hadn't stayed in a hostel for 30 years so I was a bit apprehensive but the bed was comfortable, there was good security, and the communal area was a great place for interesting conversations over coffee and the delicious pastries provided for breakfast. But the true treasure of this experience is Ingrid the host. She is a seasoned traveller, dive master and born and bred local with a great sense of humour. I was here for 2 nights but could have easily stayed longer. This would be the perfect base for an extended stay or for help if you had any problems as Ingrid has many local contacts and broad experiences. The area was great too with many shops, warungs, and a massage place opposite the police station that I highly recommend. It's a vibrant bustling area with lots of friendly locals. On my last night Ingrid and her friend took a us out to a great bar for sunset drinks. They were setting up for live music too. Would never have found this on my own. Sorong is definitely not geared towards tourists so having a great host made all the difference. Definitely an unexpected highlight of my trip!💙
