We are a family of 4 and we really enjoy our stay in the island. The resort is just so cosy, people really nice, food delicious and the sea is fantastic. There is a very good snorkeling just in front of the resort. There is the possibility to do some activities ( exploration of other islands by boat, fishing, etc) just ask the owner and he will arrange it for you. Everybody is really nice and helpful ( they even arrange a fantastic birthday cake for us). Thank you to make our stay so nice❤️

Bring mosquito repellent as around dusk time they come out with vengeance. It's a long trip to get there and back, but Willy was very helpful in arranging transport for us. We slow boated in and fast boated away. The fast boat was fast, but definitely not comfortable. If you ask Willy to send you the ferry schedule, you can avoid a sleepover in Singkil which was far from inviting. Willy also arranged a return flight to Medan for us which took under an hour from Singkil. This made our return journey pretty easy.

Kimo Resort is a true paradise island with coconut trees all around, golden beaches and crystal clear water. The bungalows ( superior ) are wonderfully placed on the sea front just meters from the water and next to the lovely bar and restaurant area. Snorkeling around the coral reef just off the beach was magical. We do hope that Willy the owner of this resort manages to continue to look after the reef. Bungalows were spacious and well designed for two adults with a comfortable bed and a simple, but beautifully designed bathroom. The restaurant served simple but very tasty food including bbq fish and vegetables. Riska and her team of staff were so welcoming and friendly and time and again went out of their way to make us feel at home. We stayed for 6 days and loved it. This really is a little piece of paradise.

Introduction to the island and facilities could have been a little more comprehensive

We had a Superior Bungalow which is very spacious, clean and with it‘s own terrace right at the beach. Owner and staff are extremely nice. Food is reasonably priced and delicious! Plus, the island is just stunning (reef for snorkelling right at the place)

The island is absolutely spectacular and worth the trip, even though it takes ages to get there. The beach, the sand, and the palm trees are so beautiful that they look unreal. Unlike some of the other guests we found the place to be clean and did not see any rubbish anywhere near Kimo Resort. The snorkeling was very good: there is a place just in front of the bar with some corals growing, possibly planted by the owners, and there are always many species of colorful fish, as well as the occasional cuttlefish. We also saw a sea snake once and stayed far away from it out of precaution, although after checking online it seems that this particular snake was not dangerous. There are supposed to be sea turtles and sometimes dugongs on some of the other islands, but we did not manage to get there during our stay. The huts are nice but rather basic: it was spotless when we arrived, but there is no cleaning service so at the end there was a bit of sand inside. Also, the bathroom is not entirely separated from the outside (there is a gap between the roof and the back wall) and there are occasional insects coming in. On the good side, there is a large wooden terrace at the front, perfect for sitting on a bean bag and reading a book. The food was fantastic and surprisingly varied for such a small place. Our favourites were potato pancakes (perkedel) which costed 20,000 IDR per portion, and slipper lobsters. Ask the owners for advice about how to get there. We hired an overnight taxi from Medan to Singkil: the driver is called Adi and he was recommended by the owners and very friendly, we also hired him for the trip from Singkil to Bukit Lawang. From Singkil it is possible to take a local boat or a large ferry, at the time we travelled, the local boat was leaving Singkil between 8-9 am and it was unclear if there is going to be another one. The ferry goes only once in a few days.

Kimo Beach Resort is located on a fantastic island that ist truly a piece of paradise! Willi and the others are excellent hosts, they always help you when you need something. You can rent snorkeling gear, a canoe or go on an island hopping tour. What we loved most was the amazing food, especially the fish menu. We can totally recommend Kimo Beach Resort!

    - There were no sunbeds anymore but bean bags on the patio (a hammock would be great). - The cottage wasn’t cleaned during our stay (3 nights). - Not something the resort can do anything about but there were a lot of flies and musquitos.

The staff was superfriendly, really helpful, perfect cook and the coral in front of the resort was amazing.

Could be paradise, but conditions on site leave a negative aftertaste

    - In my eyes false advertising, as no pictures of small bungalows online and description of them as "villa". - Furnishings worn out/not really clean (e.g. very stained towels, worn out toilet lid, everything rusty...cockroaches) - Water used for showering smells strongly of metal. - Very dirty beaches that are cleaned only sporadically and directly in front of the resort - Poor communication from the owner (2x wrong info about the ferry, generally no welcome or explanation about the resort). The man sits staring at his tablet all the time and does not care about guests. - No constant electricity in the resort - No internet, only sporadic hotspot from the owner. - All in all very expensive for the conditions on site. - No real mosquito net, but a tent inlay in which you are supposed to curl up...no idea what was thought of that.

    - Very beautiful reef with numerous nemos directly in front of the resort. - Very friendly staff at the bar/kitchen. - Food in the restaurant was very good (fish terrific). - Got upgraded free of charge due to my friend's fever (very friendly!, initiated by the lady behind the bar). - Equipment such as kayaks, stand up paddles etc. available free of charge.
